Stayed here for 1 night (and have stayed about a dozen times in the past 18 months for 1 night stays).

Stayed in standard king room.
Check-in as always was fast and efficient.

Hotel decor and uniforms are that of the 1920's art deco period.

Very spacious room had a king bed (which was very comfortable), desk & chair, flat screen TV (with poor reception), 2 x lounge chairs and a very spacious black marble bathroom. Bathroom had a separate shower and large bath. Products supplied were usual Hyatt standard.

Wifi was fast and easy to use (free as part of status otherwise about $24 per day).

Room services was always efficient and food was tasty (and warm enough).
For dinner, to keep costs down, one option is to order pizza via Pizza Hut and have it delivered (which we have done on many occasions). The hotel lobby will then call you when it arrives. Also, there is no pizza on the hotel menu.

The hotel gym, pool, spa & sauna are actually in a separate building about a 2 min walk (door to door) away. So you will need to wear the robe and slippers. The spa, pool & sauna are excellent and free to guests. There are also lockers and showers.

In the evening there is a turn down service with bottled water provided. Very nice touch.

Check-out was fast and efficient.

Taxi fare from airport is approx AUD25.00 each way.

We will continue to stay at the Hyatt when in Canberra provided prices stay within reason as this hotel seems to be at the top of the price range.

We stayed in a Park Deluxe King for two nights. The building is an architectural gem of the 1920s art-deco style - in particular, the lobby and the Tea Lounge are beautiful grand spaces. Unfortunately, the room didn't match this standard - its configuration was quite narrow and claustrophobic and the layout didn't feel like the 41 square metres advertised. That said, the bathroom was massive (maybe half the total space). The interior decoration in the room showed great attention to detail (keeping with the art deco theme) and was a redeeming feature. The bed was large and comfortable. There were a few other faults - the room was quite stuffy and musty (that old building smell - the windows in our room were shut permanently), and noise from the room above and the outside hallway carried. My partner found it quite difficult to sleep on the first night because of this.
The breakfast (included in our room rate) was generally good quality, but the dining space was small and capacity was limited - on the Sunday morning we had to queue for a table (at about 9.30am).
The staff and concierge were at a five-star hotel standard, and were always able and enthusiastic to assist with local knowledge and making dinner reservations.
Overall, the hotel had a grand, historic feel which was let down by the room. At this price level, I would like to go back to this hotel to try one of the suites, which weren't that much more expensive.

Booked a club room and were initially shown to a room which had a view of other rooms and an internal courtyard with damaged furniture. Requested a change which went smoothly and we were shown to a lovely room. The club was closed during our stay and we were told to use the common facilities instead where we were unable to get a table as they were all booked for visitors to the hotel rather than guests. The worst of our stay was that we ordered drinks in the lobby and twenty minutes later were asked by the same waiter if we would like anything. After raising this as an issue the waiter said he would send someone else to take our orders. A manager came but it took 40 minutes for our first drinks to arrive and another hour for the second!

The manager was once again very apologetic and said that we had been very unlucky. As we have stayed at the hyatt previously and used the club facilities we were very disappointed with the way we were treated as an inconvenience to the staff with the exception with the bar manager. We also found incorrect charges on our bill and when this issue was raised with reception we were told that they realized that we shouldn't be charged so that we should just keep telling staff that it was supposed to be included and they would refund it when we were incorrectly charged again. They said that with club closed all staff hadn't been advised of what these guests had included in the room rate so we would have to arrange for charges to be credited. Really disappointed as we have always loved hyatt in the past and they are normally our hotel of choice.

As usual, this was another memorable stay out of my stressed hours at Canberra. This is without a doubt my number one hotel in the region. It could be little expensive to some people but it worth every cent. The price includes breakfast. The Hotel is little far from the city centre but walking distance to parliament house, many government offices, museums and the famous lake Griffith. This could be the best choice for the family who are on holiday in Canberra.

This is a great hotel that fully lives up to the Hyatt name. The entrance lobby is great (and huge!), check-in smooth. When we eventually found our room (it's a very large area, mostly on one floor), we thought it was excellent. The rooms are very large, bathroom luxurious and huge.... and the bed - if you just want to go to sleep for the whole weekend, then go to the Hyatt!! My only criticism of the hotel is the bar, which is small and is hard to get a seat - all that space, and so little of it given to a place where people would sit and spend money.

The hotel is well located - close to Parliament House and most of the museums (walking distance), such as the National Gallery which was superb. If you like pubs, go to the Wig and Pen - great pub that brew it's own beer and whilst a bit studenty, they seem like a good class of student! Manuka (about ten mins drive) is a great place for breakfast, Cream is a good, fun lively restaurant and there is a funky bar right opposite that I can't remember the name of - wouldn't look out of place in Sydney or London.

Overall, very good - would definitely stay there next time.

The hotel is nice enough but it is isolated. It is a very long walk or pricey cab ride to and from anything at all. Our room at the back over the road and motor-coach porch was constantly barraged with noise from people, cars, and busses.

Great hotel but very much felt it was much more business than pleasure - I have stayed in much better places for much less money!
Little home comforts were missing (such as DVD player, espresso machine, spa bath plus the tv was tiny) which I think you would expect for $450 a night!!!
My room didn’t get re-stocked (toiletries, shower gel, water, tea bags, milk) either and I had to keep asking for more. Also I have a hearing problem and was told I couldn’t have subtitles on the tv?!?
The Clubhouse is trying to be a proper gym therefore it is not relaxing or luxurious in any way plus the chlorine stench in the pool was unbearable!
The Ambassador lounge was equally not homely and comfortable... All that said it is a lovely place, the jazz and BBQ Friday night were great and very reasonable prices, the cocktails were delicious and the afternoon tea looked great!
I would only probably return if someone else was paying - I like to get a little more luxury for that kind of money!
