We stayed for 2 nights only on our trip from Perth to Sydney. This hotel is very nice indeed, excellent rooms, very clean, centrally located without the traffic noise. Nice dinner and above all, we had no problems finding it. (TomTom helped of course) Recommended indeed.

What a gem. We normally stay in a serivced apartment in Camberra, but stayed at the Diplomat this time because most accommodation was booked for the Canberra Marathon. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our spa suite was simply huge - very spacious and comfortable with a separate lounge and bed room. There was plenty of room for a roll-away bed in the lounge room for our son. The decor of the rooms and the common areas is a bit dated (maybe 1990s), but the room sizes and comfort more than make up for this. Check in was great. Buffet breakfast was good quality.

We stayed 2 nights at the Diplomat, mainly selected for price and previous TA reviews.
Overall it represents great value at the price we paid. It is a little tricky to find in the dark, but once located it is in not a too bad of a position, about 10 minutes drive from the central CBD and a couple of minutes from Kingston and Manuka.

It seemed to be a quite weekend as very few people seemed to be around the hotel.

Parking is free , which is great as Canberra now seems to have a thriving business of charging parking fees. The internet is free and robust. The room was clean but a little dated. The carpet needs a birthday. We did not have breakfast there on the advice of otherTA's but the breakfast place we found in Kingston (Silos) was to die for and there seemd to be a few similar with good clientelle, so my advice is to eat out and enjoy the vibrance of the eating and shopping areas nearby.
The only real downside is that the hotel is located between 2 major arterial roads and that generates a fair bit of road noise early in the mornings. But this is a minor issue.

Room Tip: If road noise is an issue ask foe a room that does not face Canberra or Wentworth Av

Great stay for 3 nights at the Diplomat Hotel Canberra. I received a complimentary upgrade to a suite which was a very pleasant surprise. My room was enormous as was the ensuite. With a lovely balcony - although small sufficient to get out into the fresh air and enjoy the view back to Parliment House & watch the Hot Air Balloons float past in the morning. Everything was spotless with amazing housekeeping each morning. Room had a new Smart TV, complimentary Internet & great parking. Good location which got some traffic noise during peak hour otherwise quite peaceful. Very convenient location - especially if you have a car but Public Transport available.
