What a great restaurant! We dined on Saturday evening and ahad a great experience. The food was a fusian of Asian/Japanese and was a taste and visual sensation. The meals were a perfect size for sharing and the staff were helpful and friendly . The decor of the restaurant also added to the mood perfectly. We shared four of the small plates and one large which left room for a gorgeous dessert. Soju girl is certainly going to be be a very popular place.

We have been meaning to try Soju Girl and finally went, and we were not disappointed. Although there is no table service the bar staff were friendly and seemed to enjoy their work, there were also a few staff walking around clearing plates and having a quick (but unobtrusive) chat about our meals. The food was superb, we had 2 small plates of the scallops and the pork belly, both of which although small were perfectly cooked and delicious! We shared the lamb massaman curry which again was perfect. The meal definitely wasn't cheap but when it tastes that good you don't mind spending a little bit extra.

We will be back!

Had dinner with a group of friends, booked a table in the restaurant but ended up at the bar. had to order individually at the bar, and have our meals come out sporadically. Meals are pricy and not worth what you pay for...specially when there's no service provided along with them. The music was also as loud as a club so we could hardly hear each other talk. Don't recommend it.

This restaurant did not disappoint - the service was excellent, the ambience great but the food was sensational. Fresh, innovative and inspirational - a sophisticated blend of flavours. Great sized portions - perfect for sharing - although some dishes were just too good to share! The specials of the day were so tantalising that the main menu did not even get a look in! Very reasonably priced and cant wait to go back again!

If you are expecting standard Asian fare, then perhaps try Asia cafe or your local Chinese takeaway. From the moment you walk through the unimposing doors in the iconic Melbourne Building you realise that "you're not in Kansas anymore, Toto".

Staff are attentive without being intrusive. We dined at 6.30pm and both small and large groups celebrating everything from birthdays to weddings quickly filled the tables. While the noise level increased it was never an impost.

The concept of Soju is the art of sharing - if you don't play we'll with others, perhaps this might not be the place for you. They have large and small plates. Nothing like McDonald's super sized fare, but each mouthful is a culinary experience and designed to be savoured rather than scoffed.

I started (and continued) with a sweet sayang cocktail, while hubby had a Canberra winter appropriate Mr Miagi, a whiskey based cocktail served with a cute teapot of hot water. A starter of swordfish capacio dressed lovingly with a soy based citrus sauce got us off to a cracking start. I highly recommend a large plate of Chicago sirloin which is presented on a plate kissed with the sweetest, smoothest pumpkin purée imaginable. I would never of thought that these flavours would works harmoniously together, and would have easily bathed in the pumpkin if offered the chance. By far the absolute star of the evening was the last course of Sticky Date Pudding. Served with a silky toffee sauce ice cream, I almost had to reenact that famous scene from When Harry met Sally.

Soju is not average by any standard; its a somewhere special and unique destination that should be in your culinary future at least once. If you like your meat with 3 veggies I suggest another option. If you want a distinct tasting experience, here's a sublime start in a market of 'samo same' offerings.

As a very minor point, given and hopefully received as constructive, it would be useful to have the evening's specials printed out. The wait staff's run through at the table whilst informative is too soon forgotten and a bit overwhelming.
