Regular business trips to a nearby agency have resulted in a fairly regular patronage of the Plaette Cafe in Deakin which is located in the delightful Beaver Galleries.
The menu here always reads 'delicious' though its translation to the plate is never quite what I expect - just a touch on the bland side. Maybe it's a Canberra thing but the interpretation seems very safe. So saying there's a nice range of vegetarian options and the cakes look yummy. I'm usually with 'just coffee, thhnk you' friends though a colleague and I splurged on a melting moment last week and it would win a CWA seal of approval.
The big downer here is the service which always seems begrudging - unlike the staff in the adjacent gallery who are a delight. Make sure you leave time to browse amongst the range of fabulous artisan works.
