Our stay of 7 nights at Practically Lakeside was one of the most pleasurable experiences my husband and I have had. The accommodation is first class and the atmosphere is serene and peaceful. The breakfasts were plentiful, healthy and delicious (hot or cold) with tea and coffee facilities for whenever you wanted them. Luba and Chris extend wonderful hospitality without being intrusive. Everything you could want is there with little touches of luxury thrown in. The surroundings are like living in a garden with the birds coming in to be fed. We were close to the main attractions of Canberra - NGA, National Library, the Botanical Gardens etc. The room also has comnputer access if it is needed.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your experience @ Practically Lakeside and found it to be very relaxing and peaceful. You were indeed lucky to strike such good weather which made it possible for you to enjoy the Botanic gardens as well as all the cultural delights on your list. We truly enjoyed meeting you both and our little chats during your stay. We thank you for the wonderful card you sent and for also taking the time to write this lovely review. We hope that you can return to see us in the future.

Set amongst lush almost tropical surroundings just five minutes drive from the NGA and Palirament this was a perfect location. Breakfast on the balconey with the birds and unlimited use of bikes to zip around the lake and see everything was a real bonus. Very nice hosts who constantly attempted to over service us was also welcome. For people who like to do it relaxed and in a beautiful surrounding this is the place.

Thank you for that lovely review. Most of our guests love Practically Lakeside's proximity to the city & its attractions as well as the beautiful tranquil surroundings near Lake Burley Griffin. Cycling around Canberra is an added bonus. Canberra has more to offer than superb cultural delights. It is also as a paradise for people who love the outdoors and prefer to picnic or exercise in a clean & unpolluted environment. Tara has been on our list for sometime but like you, we are light-sleepers and may find it hard to adjust from a whisper quiet location to the hustle & bustle of down-town Enmore. The beautiful old building, wonderful hosts, ambience & gourmet breakfasts are indeed strong drawcards. We really enjoyed meeting you both and hope that you try kayaking on the lake next time.

We stayed for four nights at Practically Lakeside and were very impressed with the accommodation and hospitality provided by Chris and Luba. We stayed as a family with two boys and they were easily accommodated in an adjoining room. Everything was beautifully presented and the breakfasts were delicious with a huge selection of hot or cold options.

We were unfortunate enough to have to spend some time in the Canberra Hospital with one of our sons (boys will be boys!!), and Chris and luba were very kind to offer advice and assistance during that time. Thank you both :)

They also provided excellent bikes which were used to ride around the lake. The B&B is in a great location for easy access to all the tourist sites, with beautiful surroundings. We would highly recommend Practically Lakeside to anyone staying in Canberra, who expects high quality accommodation and service. Far better then a hotel or apartment.

One tip: While the bedding is extremelly comfortable and fantastic night sleeps were had by all, if you enjoy a sleep in, let Chris and Luba know and/or arrange for a late breakfast, as their kitchen adjoins the bedroom and the sounds of breakfast being prepared can be quite loud at times.

Thank you for writing that lovely review about Practically Lakeside B&B. We hope that A's injury managed to heal well and didn't marr the rest of your trip to the south coast and your later holiday at the beachside in Adelaide. We really enjoyed meeting you all and were particularly impressed with the wonderful manners & humour displayed by A & J. They are a credit to you. We hope that they have a very good and successful year @ school. Best wishes to you all.

We spent 2 nights @ this quiet B&B located in a residential neighborhood. Our room was huge on the ground floor had a private entrance and our own deck where we enjoyed a glass of wine in the evening while listening to the birds. Best part for my husband, he was able to use hard wire network for his laptop.
Refrigerator available along with access to small kitchen area. Able to order individual choices for breakfast that was not only tasty, but nicely presented.
Easy walk to nearby small shopping area with decent restaurants and pizza. And a grocery store.
With only one guest room, we were able to spend quality time with hosts Chris & Lubba learning about life "down under". They were quite helpful in directing us to Parliament house with explanation re: parking.
Highly recommend this private B&B on your next trip to Canberra.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about Practically Lakeside B&B. We hope that you enjoyed the remainder of your time in Australia. We recall that the weather was marginal during your stay. Ever since, the entire eastern seaboard has experienced unusual weather conditions. After the coldest January night on record, "five minutes" of high summer temperatures, Canberra is now a pleasant temperature in the mid-20s. Very confusing for plants with cyclamons, bella donna lillies, liliums and gardenias all flowering now! We enjoyed meeting you both and hope that you return to "OZ" some day.

This is a very pretty location, quiet and the accommodation is large, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Couple all this with hosts Luba and Chris, why would you stay anywhere else. We had a couple of days here and would definitely return. Highly recommended.

Thank you for writing a review about Practically Lakeside B&B and for your invaluable tips about and recommendations of B&Bs in UK & Europe. Many guests want more from their travel experience than just taking in the sights and a comfortable bed. Meeting the locals and getting an insight into how people think can enrich both the travellor and B&B operator. We enjoyed meeting you both and particularly our discussions about films, education & politics. We look forward to meeting you again.

After numerous disappointments from staying in Canberra hotels we spent three nights at Practically Lakeside in November. The location is close to a bus stop and within walking distance of the Yarralumla shopping centre. The very quiet self-contained accommodation features a king-size bed. Chris and Luba are caring hosts and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast orange juice was freshly squeezed and the muesli home made.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our B&B. We will try to get a copy of the Australian Magpie book from the library today and hope to see the Handwritten Exhibition @ the NLA this week as well. We enjoyed meeting you both and hope that you will get to see the Renaissance Exhibition @ the NGA during your return visit next year.

Like all the earlier reviewers, we found Luba & Chris to be the most hospitable & welcoming hosts. The accommodation is very comfortable.

Practically Lakeside is conveniently located & extremely peaceful. Shops & restaurants are just a pleasant stroll away. A free internet connection is provided & bicycles are available for the use of guests.

Highly recommended.
