We booked a two night stay here,..being given an up stairs room, which was ok, but a bit difficult as my hips were causing me discomfort ,we requested a downstairs one if available from Mark the owner... He changed us to no 1 on the ground floor and this was fine...thank you Mark. this room was a bit smaller then the other, and dispite it fronting onto the main road we were not disturbed by traffic noises... but it was more then adequate for our needs. Good clean room, with a wonderful comfy bed, plenty of toileteries, including a hairdryer...We had tea/coffee facilities, a fridge and TV iron and ironing board.....
Breakfast was served next door in the dining area, and Mark was there to greet his guest every morning, by name,,,,A "help yourself'' to ceareals, juices,, fresh fruit, toast, tea/coffee ,and a cooked breakfast made to order.....This consisted of sausage, eggs, tomato, bacon...and you were asked as to the quantity you wanted....excellent choice..
Limited parking on he premises, but street parking right outside available...
this accmmodation is a short way from town, but the bus stop is right outside the property...mark was an extremely good host, very informative and helpful in any way he could be with information on what t do and where to go for shopping ad meals....A shopping centre, being 5 minute away round the corner....
A most enjyable stay, nothing to muh trouble, would hghly recommend booking early, excellently priced accommodation....

Room Tip: Book early to avoid disappointment....

Stayed here for one night and enjoyed our stay.
Very friendly and knowledgeable owner.

Located near bus stop to get straight into the center and 5 mins walk from a large selection of restaurants.

Also the included breakfast filled us up till dinner time the next evening :-)

Room Tip: back of property is away from road so quieter.

Our family just spend 3 nights here in January 2013. The room was lovely for a family, beds were very comfortable, soft pillows and the bathroom was great. Max, the host was very helpful, suggesting wonderful local restaurants down the road for dinner as well. The fully cooked breakfast was delicious and cooked just for you, immediately when you arrived in the dining room. Thanks so much for the lovely time. The vegetable garden out the back was very homely as well.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our three day holiday in Jan 2013 at Milanda Lodge in Downer ACT.
Mark and his wife (Hosts) were very friendly and eager to please us.
It was a pleasure to stay at this lodge and is in a good location to access Canberras attractions.
Would recommend to anyone, looking for alace to stay while visiting Canberra
Well Done!!

We booked this for a couple of nights to allow us to visit the highlights of Canberra. We had a very warm welcome from Mark who read my thoughts and thrust a cold beer in my hand immediately. This is a purpose-built guest house and as such does lack some of the charm of some of the other houses we visited. However in other respects it could not be faulted - good breakfast, comfortable beds and convenient location and all at a perfectly reasonable price. We have no hesitation in recommending thi house to other tourists.

Despite the fact that this is a small B&B and its outdated furnishings, this place is a little gem. My room on the top level facing the street was big, with a desk and 2 tub chairs. I saw a room downstairs and it was smaller in size. Even though it faced Northbourne Ave, it was not noisy. Parking available on site or on the street.

There were enough storage space, extra pillows and blankets, enough hooks in the bathroom, working side table lamps and power points. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer were in the room
.
The breakfast was not fancy, 3 types of cereals, help yourself to the toast and a choice of fried or poached eggs, with bacon, sausages, baked beans & spaghetti. It was enough to sustain you for the morning.

For the price, it had a very clean room and nice shower. Only 1 towel per person provided, no hand towels and cheap soap and sachet of shampoo.

Good value for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st floor seemed to be bigger. Or if you really want a quiet room, ask for the back roo...

A great conveniently located hotel. The room was spacious and equipped by everything including ironing board. Very clean. Included hot breakfast is excellent.
The hotel is family run and well maintained and clean. Mark, the owner is friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
The bus stop is in fount of the hotel so it is easy to commute. There are a lot of restaurants and supermarkets in five minutes work. Despite the hotel closed to road there is no noise. Even more in the back of the hotel you could see possums around midnight. Do not forget some bread for them.
Free Wifi is available

Room Tip: Ask a quiet room on the back of the hotel.
