We have been to the National Portrait Gallery a couple of times and it is one of Canberra's most underrated attractions. The gallery rooms are well laid out and follow historical periods. Whether you are a fan of politics, famous people, popular culture or sports, this gallery showcases the people that have had a profound impact on creating modern Australia. There is something for everyone. We visited the "Elvis at 21" Exhibition and it was a fascinating insight into his life before he became famous. The photographs were stunning, and a reminder of simpler times. Our afternoon was completed with a fine coffee in the Gallery's cafe.
