“Great Entertainment, Average Food”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

We went to Wasabii with a group of 12 people. With food flying everywhere the meal was entertaining, but the food itself was average. I also had the feeling the waiter had done the "routine" a million times and was a little over it...but he did his best. It is an enjoyable night if you have the right group of people...and some sake!!

“Friendly staff indifferent food”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

I took my daughter and her 2 children for Teppenyaki, with a view that whilst the barbecue style cooking and theatricals would be fun I also be able to enjoy good quality food.
After observing the chef smelling the raw Tuna we were served as shasimi I should have sensed dinner was going to be a disappointment, the fish had been frozen....
Our first "treat" from the barbecue was heaps of fried onion and a few mushrooms, followed by fried rice, and very old steak which was supposed to be fillet but if so it was a very poor quality meat,
Next chicken and prawns, the prawns had a very strong taste and again were very old.

All in all for the price, this restaurant needs to review it's the way the food is served, we wore a lot of the food from the "theatricals", and improve the quality of it's menu. just a note the serving staff were very efficient and helpfull. not recommended and I would not return.

“Japanese tepanyaki - can't get any more fun than this!!!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

A group of up to 8 of us went to the restaurant for a friends birthday dinner. It was one of her favourite restaurants, and she told us that we would all have a great time if we had never experienced food in the form of tepanyaki.
Although the waiting staff were slow and either messed up or forgot drink orders, we were really there for the food and the company.
Our personal chef was amazing!!! He had a great sense of humor and was so creative in his cooking. Having raw eggs thrown at us to catch was both horrifying yet exhilarating...... unfortunately the xmas work party sitting across from us didn't seem to have the same hand/eye coordination and dropped alot of food that was thrown at them. Of course this just added to the atmosphere and everyone was in fits of laughter, including the chefs. The quality of the food was delicious, and the value for money was fabulous!
Cannot wait to go back again!

Strongly recommended, best tepanyaki Japanese restaurant in Canberra, friendly service, cheap tepanyaki lunch. I would go there every week.

“A good night out”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

We took my mum out for teppanyaki as something different for Mother's Day. Make sure you book. There's 3 sessions - 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. We went to the 7pm session. The service was ok - we didn't really see the staff much. I thought they were understaffed (they had 2 people looking after the whole restaurant). We received our soup about 7:25pm but didn't see the chef until 7:40pm. Once the cooking started, it was quite fun and entertaining.

If you've never been to teppanyaki, I would recommend you giving it a try.
