The main feature of this gem of a pub is its massive garden which comes into its own in the summer months.

Add in the huge selection of perfectly kept real ales, and a great menu, and it's a haven for the whole family.

The may and August Bank holidays see a weekend long real ale festival with dozens of beers, and live music to help wash it down.

Highly recommended and well worth a detour to visit it!

This is a pub well worth visiting, not just for its outstanding range of beers, good food and laid-back atmosphere, but also for its situation in lovely countryside. My wife and I were able to park our modest camper van unobtrusively in a corner of the spacious car park, down several beers (Westerham 65, in my case) + generous and tasty food, walk off the lunch through neighbouring orchards and, later, repeat the process for our evening meal (more of the excellent Westerham 65). After a peaceful night's sleep in our van we went on our way with happy memories of Halfway House. We'll be back!

We went here for dinner after reading all the wonderful reviews, the food was not as good as I had hoped. We each had three courses and felt that there was a good selection of food but it was all standard pub fayre, none of what we ate made us say "Wow". The interior of the pub is what you need to go for, as well as the fantastic selection of ale.

Maybe wrongly listed as a hotel. This is a pub. There may be rooms, but we didn't see them.

We've driven past the Halfway House Pub many, many times but had never visited.

At Easter we decided to go there for lunch (party of six).

Good points:

Excellent staff. Wry barman.
Good beers (+ the fabulous "Chiddingstone" cider).
Truly excellent food. The Venison pie was a delight.
Bonkers old building.
Big garden with play area (too cold that day to be outside).
Fair prices.
Loads of parking.

Bad points:

Only one. Horrid cigarette-end pile outside the door.

Go back again? Certainly and very soon too...
