We've been going to Pierluigi's for years, but have noticed that prices have soared until they are higher than justified for a restaurant of this calibre. The food is O.K, nothing special, but reliably good. We have had the same experience as another reviewer where one of the waiters quietly asks for a tip in cash, which we view as unprofessional, and have always refused. Service is generally slow unless the proprietor is there, when a totally different attitude pertains, very professionally he has his eye on all the tables. We're moving on now.

I recently dined at Pierluigis in Beckenham and am not one to write reviews, however after reading that I'm not the only one who doesn't seem to give opinions and yet have, I felt it was necessary.
The food was beautiful. I had an exceptional seafood pasta dish followed by homemade tiramisu.
The atmosphere was extremely relaxed and the service was very good.
My partner is foreign and after reading a certain review about possible racism....I felt the need to post this expressing shock as considering the entire restaurant is foreign....with, may I add a mixture of nationalites in the kitchen....people should be extremely careful with what they write or insinuate.
Anyway, as I have already written, a lovely meal.

Such a shame to write this as have had a few good experiences at this restaurant but will not be returning!

Was looking for a table for two at lunch time today and the restaurant was empty. We Arrived with a guide dog in tow as one of us is blind. Received rude and inconsiderate responses from the waiter/manager denying us a table as they do not accept dog, as their licence does not permit it. Explained this cannot be the case as any guide dog IS allowed entry and by denying entry can incur a fine up to £1000 by RNIB.

The story then changed and the waiter explained they were going to be fully booked within half an hour and this was the reason they could not accommodate us; this was hard to believe seen as they were empty.

Such unprofessional behaviour and no respect or courtesy having been offered to either of us.

Very unpleasant experience.

I was extremely sadden when reading this review it took a while to get to the truth, on finding it caused even more anguish.
Since this incident the waiter concerned is no longer employed by us.
Our employees are instructed when dealing with customers with special needs and are always attentive.
The customer concerned has since been back by invitation.

Have been going to Pierluigis for many years on and off and have had lots of business lunches there. Went the other evening (a Tuesday) and it was fairly quiet, only 3-4 other tables at 745pm. As usual they do their trick of trying to huddle everyone up into the window to look busy, which I don't like.

They had only one moretti beer left and the menu doesn't appear to have changed much in 20 years. No ambience there, not air conditioned (in 30c heat outside you would expect that) and food was distinctly 'average' and west end prices - didnt have wine but again, exceptionally expensive - £28 for pino Grigio !!! That must be 700% markup on wholesale prices.

Waiters were surly and service very slow and indifferent. A sort Italian social club of owners , their friends and off duty waiters was going on by the bar.

Restrooms have seen better days and need a makeover.

Bill took ages to arrive and had to be requested three times from different staff.

Somewhere to go to if all other places are full - would recommend the new Basil restaurant or even La Rascasse for better value, food, ambience and service. MA Beckenham

Have not been here for some time. As usual staff attentive but feel it is now overpriced with most starters close to £10 and mains almost £20. The food was nice but the lasagne was a bit tasteless and pasta felt a Little heavy. There is now opportunity to eat outside which is good. Nice place for treats but not for each week.
