Ok, clearly I'm a fan :) If you can find this place open when you're passing by (hours are 10 to 10 Tuesday through Friday), do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't regret it.
Stopped in around lunch time on a Friday. Only one other couple there at that time, but it quickly filled soon after.
Started with a margarita and a pina colada. Both were the best I've had. Ever. Pina colada was refreshing, not too sticky and sickeningly sweet like some can be. The margarita was the true thing, not just way-too-much-sour-mix-on-ice like so many in the States.
Ordered the chorizo and cheese appetizer, which came fondue-style on a mini charcoal melting pot. Refried beans were a big part of this dish, which also came with fantastic homemade chips, a type of pico, and the house special hot sauce (which is so good, we bought 3 bottles to take back home).
The grilled fish and pork chop dishes that came out looked exquisite. I didn't have these, but the other customers raved about them.
Dessert was island lime pie. Reminiscent of key lime pie, with a honey drizzle. One word: superb.
The owner paid great personal attention to every dish. Everything is homemade, so you get a very individual taste (waaaay better than chain/resort spots).
Everything was fantastic. My favorite dining on the island. I'm truly sorry to see any negative reviews on here. I would be happy to buy those people a second round at Cal's, to see if maybe I could change their minds :)
We had four drinks (forgot to mention the First Bight Breeze cocktail was fab as well), a huge appetizer, and dessert for about $23. Quite reasonable for food/beverages of this quality. I hope to go there again before leaving the island.
