We enjoyed the water slide as part of a visit to a small plaque about the international date line! Our driver got one of his nieces to show us the way to the slide and she helped us get into the water - if it hasn't rained enough for the locals to do it, you'll get a sore bottom! Lucky for us, there were still a few locals there so we jumped in, and it was a lot of fun if a little hard to maneuver at times.

The climb up to the top is somewhat difficult, but the ride down is definitely worth the climb. Remember to wear shorts with your bathing suit, so it doesn't rip.

We saw the water slide as part of the waterfall tour from Paradise Taveuni. It had just rained so the water was really moving. The walk up is VERY slippery. The slide is fun so we had to do it at least once, but, the real treat is the local kids. All ages, boys and girls diving in the pool and riding the slide, sometimes standing up. For the less adventurous, or those of us in not so great shape, there are a few places to sit and watch. Be careful though, those kids make it look so easy and fun you might be talked into having a really good time.

We caught a taxi with our taxi driver Ben. His son was off from school so he came along too. Ben drove us there and guided us down to the river so he also acted as a guide. So fun sliding down! We're in the 50 year old range so was wondering if it would be too hard for us but wasn't difficult or scary at all. Local kids were there showing us how its done and showing how they "surfed" down the rocks. Yell out "laco telly" (sp?) which means "do it again!" in Fijian. You would probably have to know what the water is like in different seasons as it might be too fast running during the rainy season. We went in April and it was just right.

Take all precautions on the portion of the hike that parallels the water slide as it is usually very slippery. We were told to take off all foot ware. You can use your body to dam up the water. then let it flow and take a ride with the gush of released water. Great fun!
