We arrived very late and were informed that we had to take the key from the safe as there was not a 24 hour reception. Fair enough. However the apartments are like a maze and it took us between 11:30 pm to 1 am to find our room. Little did we know that to reach our apartment u needed to walk down 2 corridors, down a lift, then walk down another corridor, down another lift. Exit the building then up another lift. The next morning we complained to reception and instead of an apology we were made to feel like we were the ones in the wrong for not finding the room. They expect guests to be psychic as no clear directions were given. Staff were quite arrogant and rude and they ruined our trip.

This apartment had everything you needed but nothing was particularly good. the sofa bed was really uncomfortable. there is only on pillow and one thin blanket per person and a request to reception for extra was met with a no. the cooking facilities were basic but had everything you neede to make a meal. the bathroom was the biggets let down. after a hard days skiing you need a nice hot shower or a soak in the tub. the water pressure was so bad that you could not run the shower with hot water. so the choice was to have a cold shower or wait 1 hour 45 mins for the bath to half fill. for this reason only we would not choose to stay here again.

The Chalets des Arolles are made up of several apartment blocks. We stayed in the Gemeaux block which has been rennovated within the last year. The apartment was for 2-4 people with a bedroom with bunks and a sofa bed in the sitting room. It was fine for 2 people but 4 adults would feel a bit cramped. The apartment was immaculate and modern. Bedding and tea towels are provided but you'll need to take your own towels or hire them for 8 euros for 2 towels. You can either clean the place yourself or pay the cleaner to do it for about 55 euros. Each apartment has its own ski locker. Don't expect heated boot warmers and the like, it's no frills but secure enough.
Although the Gemeaux is recently rennovated, I do not believe this to be the case with all of the other apartment blocks.
Check out is 10am and the reception will not entertain the idea of a late check out, but they have a room to keep your bags safe, so it's not a problem.
You will only have a two minute walk to and from the piste which runs straight through the village. The ski area is fantastic with runs to suit everyone. A full area pass covers unlimited trips into Les Arcs and cost us about £250 for a 6 day pass. Nothing comes cheap in La Plagne, even a tea and coffee will cost over 8 euros and a pint of beer cost about 6 euros. The only local supermarket is the spar which again is expensive so take plenty of money.
