Me and my wife stayed here for our hooneymoon. We absolutely loved it, Lynda was very helpfull and showed us how to work things and also showed us around the cabin. They also made us a basket with homemade shortbread with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and chocolates. They even went the extra mile and made 2 swans on the bed out of the towels!! And champagne with strawberries, Which was amazing. The cabin is really clean and tidy and faultless. Its also very private and Lynda and Stu dont bother you. If anything is needed then all you do is pop a note in the letter box Lynda is straight onto it to help where needed. The hot tub is amazing and we enjoyed it everyday. We loved our stay and already planning to come back on our hooneymoon!.
We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice relaxing break away.
Thanks again Lynda and Stu
The lodge is fantastic, a mile off the main road and just 12 steps from the forest. Being woken up by a bird tapping on your window, or squirrels scurrying across the cabin roof is wonderful, spotting baby rabbits while you make your first coffee of the day is happy making (they have a nespresso machine - double happiness).
Stu and Lynda have your immediate needs covered with a welcome basket, tea coffee, milk and sugar are included, home made short bread to die for, a basket of logs for the fire (message them 30 minutes before you arrive and the fire will be lit for your arrival), and a bag of popcorn to munch on as you work your way through their DVD collection.
The lodge is ideally situated for exploring the peak district as well as the forest, there are loads of good local eateries, either borrow a bicycle or take a short drive (the Caunton Beck is highly recommended) or try one of the local farm shops and cook or BBQ at the lodge (Maxeys at Hockerton has the best of local produce for sale).
Definitely heading back there, hopefully when there's snow on the ground to make the best use of the hot tub and wood burner.
Back from a long Easter weekend at Deerdale Lodge and have to say it was amazing. Lynda and Stu thought of every detail, the welcome hamper was a helpful touch. We enjoyed a relaxing weekend cycling around the area, walking through the forest and chilling in the hot tub. Will definitely be back :-)
