At the foot of Mt Hutt in a beautiful setting on the rolling hills - and just an hour or so into Christchurch - Quiclkenberry Guesthouse was a great find. A warm welcome from the hosts, an en suite room of high standard, a fantastic evening meal (one of the owners is a trained chef), a great nights sleep and then breakfast cooked to order. What else could one want. We would highly recommend this guesthouse

Location simply breathtaking with mountain backdrop and golf course walk. Beautiful room in first class amenities. Warm and welcoming hosts. Wonderful high class cuisine that chef Robbie and hostess Christine will serve you if you choose dinner. Definitely the highlight of our South Island experience.

Quickenberry, New Zealand, is hosted by two beautiful people, Christine and Robbie. Aidan (my partner) and I found heaven and we were fortunate in the past year to take the oppertunity to visit many times. Three hours flight from the Gold Coast , queensland and then about 30 mins drive to Canterbury plains just outside Christchurch.NZ it is like finding the elusive pot of gold and lucky too for you all we wish to share the loot!!!:)
so what kind of holiday will you expect at Quickenberry? Romantic, adventurous, naturally beautiful. Wonderful hosts with a passion for what they do and do it so well. amazing food and wine. Plenty to do and see, all year round. golf (Ads passion) , skiiing , walking, climbing or simply breathing! If your talented enought to Paint or write or are good with photography there is plenty to inspire. If you have a passion for food, as I do. I took a cookery lesson from chef Robbie, while Ad was out on the golf course.
So spacious elegant rooms with doors that open on to the lawns and stunning rolling countryside and majestic mount Hutt, is some of the natural beauty that lies beyond Quickenberry.
The sun beckons you in the morning to walk out onto the lawn and feel the soft grass between your toes and breathe the wonderful air. You will feel you were in heaven and remember to give your partner a kiss and cherish the moment. together. So keep an open plan and do what your heart desires to do, go fishing, walk the Rakiai River, visit local wineries, breath the air in all you do. For sure you will come back each evening and recant the day's adventures over the most amazing food that will excite the most experienced pallet, prepared with love and care. The hand picked wines from the collection of wines at Quickenberry , rounds off and compliments each morsel of food.
Take your partner and curl up in front of the open fire or sit out amongst the starts at night and toast the end of a special day and talk about the day to come. Later fall blissfully asleep in the generour somfy, king size bed awaking refreshed to a wonderful breakefast that will set you up for a wonderous day..How Exciting! :)
So whether from far or near, young or old, grab the one you love, arrange a trip away with good friends, pack that bag andenjoy one of New Zealand's best kept secrets... Quickenberry Lodge is amazing from start to finish, go now before... the 'secret' gets out!!
Hope to meet you there soon. mary & Aidan

Quickenberry Guesthouse is far more than a B&B.
It is a purposely built beautiful home owned by two wonderful hosts,Robert and Chrsitine, which are creating an atmosphere of perfect well being.Guest Rooms are spacious with beautiful views onto a impressive mountain scenery.
Afternoon tea and pre diner drinks made the perfect prelude to a diner perpard by Robert which did beat all restaurants,we had the pleasure to visit during our travel. The 4 course menu was prepared to perfection by Robert and served in style by christine.
This is a place which, is worth any distance travelling, though it is only 1hr by car from Christchurch Airport .For Golfers it adds the convenience of being situated on an 18holes championship course.
If any place deserves a 5 star rating it is Quickenberry!

We have stayed at this marvelous hideaway about 6 times now and we haven't finished yet. I dread the day when it is so popular that we can't get a room!!
This couple are natural hosts and make you feel very welcome and relaxed. They both have a wonderful sence of humour.
Robbie is Swiss from Appenzell and his love of cooking really shows. The meal in the evening is so tasty and well presented and the breakfast is something to look forward to when you go to bed in the evening.
Christine is the hostess and does a superb job. They both have years of experience.
We were told about this wonderful place by friends and now we all go back for special occasions or just because we need a bit of pampering.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds enormous.
The setting is fabulous with the mountains just out your door. You have your own area to sit outside just outside your room.
I can't recommend this place enough but please leave a room for us!!
