We spent one night in April, since it was Easter and we had no reservation all the hotels ( Hotel Toplice ****, Hotel Terme **** Hotel Catez *** ) and Apartments were fully booked. We stayed in the camping, Pirates Bay Bungalow: a series of wooden-type floating bungalows over a small artificial pond . Clean and basic, bed linen included, there's a kitchenette ,small dining room and a lake-view terrace .no bathroom ( and no running water ), you can use camping facilities ( wc-showers-washes ) .Not very cheap 130euro ( each bungalow can accomodate up to 5persons : one kingsize bed + one addittional single bed downstairs and a two persons bed in the garret ) with free entrance for bathing at Thermal Riviera ( outdoor and indoor waterpark, extra pay for to enter the Sauna Park ). Free parking. Expensive cafe -restaurants and minimarket, buy your own food outside the thermal park.

Stayed at this hotel for three weeks. Worked nights (12 hours/6 days a week) at the Krsko Nuclear Plant which is close by with National Inspection and Consultants in 1983 as a consultant for Westinghouse Electric. The rooms were very clean and bright (no black out curtains!), the front desk and EVERYBODY else did not speak a word of English. Food was ok, Note: all food was cooked in olive oil and they ladled it on top out of the grill, somehow it worked and I came home with a love of olive oil. When I ordered chicken Kiev I was served fried chicken, when I ordered it again a few days later after making my point I wanted chicken Kiev I got fried chicken again. Watch it using the telephone, unless things have changed I made a seven minute call home ( I had to wait in my room for three hours for an overseas operator to connect me, when I checked out that seven minute phone call cost me $135.00.... beware (use the Post Office phones instead). Had a good time in the pools, five pools each was one degree cooler than the next and one in door elevated pool with glass windows on three sides. Temps were 103, 102, 101, 100 and 99 degrees F. Had a good time all in all. Communication with staff was difficult.

Food good, rooms clean. Water in swimmingpools cool rather than thermally warm. Son got fever which caused extra costs for medication in the nearby Brezice. Pools over the weekend packed with guests.
Vicinity of the Croatian boarder ideal for extra costs in form of vignette fine surprise. Instead of informing guests who enter Slovenia from Zagreb about vignette rules, guests are informed upon leaving, on the boarder toward Zagreb and fined. Fines range from 300 - 800 EUR. Feels like a legal robbery by "inspectors of the low".

Good hotel, lovely location with easy access to both winter & summer 'termal rivieras', i.e. pool complexes. Dining room in particular lovely with tropical theme; good buffet breakfast & dinner - but the buffet area bit cramped - you fight for your place in the queue. One aspect we did not like - the game rooms for kids - felt like being on Brighton pier! Note that for indoor riviera you do not need to pay for the loungers, but have to do so in the outdoor/ summer version. Note also that the decor/ furnishing/ carpets are worn - not what you expect from 4star hotel. it is all in all quite expensive.
be aware if you book online and pay in full you do not have any cancellation rights!

By living in Italy it was a close drive for us. The Winter Thermal Park was great especially for our 2 year old son. We stayed in the Hotel Terme. Older hotel (built in '77) but still nice. Spacious room, comfortable bed. The meals were included in our package and were good. We got to enjoy a festive party on the 2nd with Polka music. Only drawback to the room was that we were not able to lock the balcony door in order to keep our 2 year old from opening it.
All the hotels have wellness centers and pools. But being at the Hotel Terme you have to walk a little bit to get to the indoor park. But all and all a great time. Be sure to get the massages and treatments.

We were in a superior room. We had an offer with two massages included. The room is ok. It's not new but it look god and is quite big. The food wasn't too tasty but it wasn't bad. The worst was that most of the other guests were old people so the atmosphere was not great. The hotel has its own pool and sauna. Many people go to the nearby Winter water world (the entrance fee was included in the hotel price) so the pool and sauna were not crowded and it was enjoyable. This is why of all hotels in Catez I think that this is the best to go to if you hate crowds and want to have some privacy.

booked this thru local travel agent - good cheap deal that included breakfast and dinner for two adults for four nights at a total cost of 507 euros.
arrived at 3pm - went up to our room and well it just went downhill from there.
first of all this hotel is a ˝˝ four star˝ I suppose that would translate to a 2 star category in Australia.
the hotel is over 30 years old and looks it. Although clean, there are extensive signs of wear and tear. Our room was about 20sq metres. Bathroom had a tiny 1sq metre shower, there was a supply of 2 soaps smaller than my thumb, 2 - 20ml bottles of shampoo, 2 thin almost threadbare small bath towels and 2 hand towels in same condition.
Pillows on the bed were flat as pancakes - I rang reception for replacement and told that housekeeping had gone for the day - workers in hotel industry work from 7 to 2pm. I was asked to ring back tomorrow, to which I firmly replied I need a pillow for tonight and didnt want to wait till the next day, as they did not have the key to storage room. I suggested they take a pillow from another room -to which they agreed but asked if I could pick it up from reception - I of course suggested they could bring it up to me - they finally agreed. It was bigger and much more LUMPIER !!!!!!!!!
Food was basic and boring
breakfast every morning consisted of the worst coffee Ive ever tasted, Long Life Milk, 4 diff cereals, stewed and fresh fruits. Sliced cheeses and cold meats, boiled eggs, frankfurts, partially cooked bacon and bratwurst sausages, various breads/rolls.
Dinner was pork, veal, fish and various vegetable dishes, pastas and soups. The sauces in the meats all tasted the same like a reduced chicken soup poured on top.
The staff were almost non existent - we were shown to our table once over the entire four day stay. Once asked for our drink of choice and served we never saw them in the dining area again. We didnt even get to sign off the drink voucher ??
As for the facilities at Hotel Terme
well let me put it this way, there are lots of pools both indoor and out. Good standard of cleanliness and lots of changing facilities but there were so many people using these areas that it felt very cramped - and its only the beginning of the season. We couldnt find lounge to sit on and the outside pools charged you to use them and you also were charged to use their pool towels ????

The wellness spa had a lovely presentation, the staff arent really well trained or just dont have good social skills. Mostly young and still learning - unfortunate if you have already experienced treatments from other resorts. The costs at the spa are quite expensive esp considering the standard of service given in return. The local language is slovenian, most speak german as there are a lot of tourists from germany- austria. English is spoken but only minimally.
This Hotel Terme is on the same property as Hotel Catez and Hotel Toplice both 3 star and a camping ground.
There is a coffee shop (dont drink the coffee - it tastes burnt and is worse than the dining room coffee), several shops selling the usual tourist stuff, a chemist, post office and a market for those needing grocery items and alcohol.
The site where the property is located is just of the freeway on the way from Ljubljana to Zagreb (30km away in Croatia)
Very quiet and peaceful with the river Sava at the back of the property.
