Description: We are a passionate farm! We create and share locally grown food and wines situated in the heart of North Saanich's pastoral landscape, the focus is on local food and wine, and sustainability. More than just a bakery/cafe, The Roost sits on 10 acres of farmland where we grow many items used to produce the food we proudly serve. The wheat grown and milled on-site is used to bake breads fresh daily. The blueberries, sheep, and a unique vineyard, all add to the authentic experience. You'll love coming out to our place! Whether you sit on the porch, get comfy in the secret garden, relax on our "chicken-bus", or laze at a picnic bench looking out over the farm and vineyard, you are sure to enjoy a passionate farm experience!

The Roost has the most delicious sandwiches for lunch...we go there a lot and take out their meatloaf or their tuna salad or their smoked salmon on dark rye. The sandwiches are large, made with fresh baked bread and wonderful fillings. They do a brisk business and are always busy so be prepared to line up and wait. Their cookies and baked goods are also excellent! Highly recommended.

I've eaten at The Roost several times and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts and the huge selection of baked goods. They must have been having an off day on this Sunday morning, July 14, as there was the most awful imaginable smell upon entering The Roost. Or perhaps we arrived too early and maybe the awful smell(s) are masked once they start up the baking ovens. But YUCK! and I wish we had left. Instead all three of us got GREASY breakfasts and felt ill. Also, the bathroom looked as though it had not been cleaned the night before.

So maybe they were having a bad day, however, if you walk in and you find that the place stinks when you walk in, LEAVE!

A Funky little spot, always busy and always good. The Montreal Smoked meat is tasty, and the Carrot :) will put a smile on your face.

You just can't go wrong here. On a sunny day, sit at a table on the porch or in the garden enjoying your meal. There is the covered old bus with tables that provides both a novel and unique fun atmosphere. The breakfast choice is their Riser, a traditional fare. There is a wide variety of omelets and benny. Soups are a popular choice for lunch with full and hearty sandwiches as well. Favourite sandwich: smoke meat on their own baked dark rye. Yes, they bake their breads with some for sale. Meat pies rich in ingredients and flavour are taken away for quick easy dinners. And yes, there are sweets too. Forget: they now do dinners.
