A great stay with friendly staff and great service. Room was spacious and well appointed with nice outlook over the water. I would recommend this hotel for those who don't need to be in the central city and are looking for a quiet stay between the central city and airport. Easy access and plenty of parking. I will return.

My family and I were invited to a wedding that was being held at the hotel over the Christmas break (28/12/2013) We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and found our stay most enjoyable. The room was clean and well proportioned for our needs, with our daughters (3 & 5) sharing the double bed and us on queen. Room service was great and the meals delivered (although a bit pricey) were hot when they arrived and of really great quality and taste. (I recommend the calamari).

The staff at reception and the cleaning staff were always friendly and easily approachable and when the cleaning staff did their round to tidy our room it was done quickly and extremely efficiently. It would have been nice though if there were porter staff available to assist with the transport of our bags from our vehicle to our room.

The one downfall of the hotel was the state of the spa pool located outside with the main pool. The spa was extremely dirty and full of leaves and plant material and during our 3 day stay it did not seem as if it was cleaned once. There were also detached mosaic tiles lying in the spa that could have been a danger to people if they had stood on them and cut their feet. There was also an area adjacent to the spa that was covered in moss and slimy growth. My 5 year old daughter slipped and fell while walking across this area and hurt herself quite badly as a result (mild concussion). The whole pool area seemed to be a little neglected and this detracted from a overall good stay.

The hotel is within a short easy travel from the international airport and is only 5 min by car from Sylvia Park shopping mall which is very convenient (if your wife loves shopping).

Overall the stay at Waipuna was very enjoyable and I would recommend it as an accommodation destination when traveling to Auckland.

Following our return home we received a letter from the general manager relating to the slippery pavement stating that the situation was being re-mediated.

We stayed for 1 night and got a good weekend internet deal. The hotel was away from all the traffic noise and the room overlooked the lagoon. Big room with big comfortable bed. There was complimentary plunger coffee in the room, so we could sit on the balcony with a coffee and watch the sunrise after a good nights sleep. Friendly young people on reception. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Auckland.

My partner and I decided we needed a bit of a 'mini-break' so booked into the Waipuna for a night's stay.

We were upgraded to a Gallery Suite with a upstairs bedroom on the mezzainine floor which made a nice change and gave good separation from the dining area. The bed was comfortable and everything in the room was clean and tidy.

The only drawback I felt (especially in the summer) was that once you took the electronic key out of the slot when you left, the air con also stopped so the room was stuffy and hot on arrival and when you returned. I realise this is a cost-saving procedure but in summer it makes things a little uncomfortable.

The Waipuna is situated on the edge of the Panmure Basin which has a lovely walk around the edge. We walked one side in the evening and then the other perimeter in the morning (the foot bridge was closed, so you couldn't do an entire circuit). Very pleasant.

We had dinner at Wellingtons restaurant downstairs and chose the buffet which had loads of choice and everything looked and tasted lovely and fresh. We had a table overlooking the basin which made for a great outlook. We overate (as you do in a buffet) so couldn't face another buffet for breakfast, but would imagine it was well worth it. :)

I spent 4 nights here last week, and found the quality of accommodation and service consistent with my last trip a few months back.

The room is fairly standard for a studio, but what stood out was the quality of meals. I found myself looking forward to breakfasts, and the pot of coffee or tea placed on the table pretty much immediately. Buffet dinners were also very good, leaving me no reason to find alternative eateries.

The lake behind the hotel provides nice scenery, and if you're up to it you can take a walk around it taking in the clean air.

Though this hotel is not near the city, if you're needing somewhere near Mount Wellington this place is definitely worth considering.

Nice big (but not tall) hotel with very good conference facility. Very nice gardens / surrounds with great walk around the adjacent Waipuna Basin. A bit isolated location (without a car), although there was limited shops within 1 km. Approx NZ$70 to airport.
