We discovered Sharks Cove when doing a driving tour of the North Shore (using the Shaka app). It was wonderful, much less crowded yet as spectacular as Hanauma Bay ... and FREE.

I’ve snorkeled all over the Caribbean and none of those spots rivals Shark Cove. I brought my own full face mask snorkel that I bought on Amazon but you can either buy or rent one there. Don’t get talked into a tour though. It is free to swim in the water and snorkel around to look at all the fish. Water shoes are a must!!! You will regret it if you don’t have them. There are also wild sea turtles if you are a good enough swimmer to go out past the rocks. There are no lifeguards on duty so swim at your own risk. Please remember that it is a protected place for fish and turtles and their habitats. Don’t just touch things and don’t take anything. Just enjoy the beauty around you.

We snorkelled Lanikai, Hanuama Bay and Three Tables during 10 days on Oahu. Sharks Cover was the clear winner. Visibility was exceptional, there were dozens of different species of fish, and it was not at all busy compared to some of the other places. Granted, it's a little tricky to get to, but we managed it with a mixture of flip-flops and barefoot, so can't have been all that bad. If you do find the rocks a little sore, just go to Three Tables as that was a close 2nd place for best snorkelling on the island.

We stopped at Sharks Cove for an afternoon snorkel. It’s busy getting into the water as there is one main channel. Once you’re past this, there is great snorkeling. Lots of black trigger fish, and we saw turtles

The Spot Food Truck... great food ... had the fish sandwich which was great. Generous serving of fish & tasty pesto aioli sauce. Recommend this food truck to all stopping in Shark Cove
