Residence Hotel Lu Nibareddu
Reviewed September 6, 2011

I stayed in one of the apartments for 3 nights. The space was big and clean, and the kitchen was stuffed with all pans/plates/clutery I needed. There was a table inside the apartment and one outside in the veranda. The shower had strong and hot water. The parking was close to the flat and overall it was very quiet and relaxing.
The residence has a good location, very close to the beach and only 10 mins drive from San Teodoro. The stuff was nice and helpful.
It was a bit expensive, but overall I am very happy with my stay at Lu Nibareddu and I would recommend it to my friends.

We went with our 1-1/2 years old kid, which was the reason we looked for accomodation in a place like this, with kitchen facilities and near the sea.
The residence is organised like a small village, with small 1 or 2 floors buildings where each apartment has its own entrance and small patio/garden. There are green areas and a pool.
We had chosen the basic category of apartment, which was comfortable and clean, and large enough to add a bed for the kid. We had a small terrace just outside our door with a table and chairs, which was very nice to have breakfast and to drink a beer in the evening. The kitchen was equipped with all the necessary, and the bathroom was comfortable and clean. I've seen other categories of apartments seem to offer more space and/or better view, but the price difference can be hefty.
Service at the reception is kind and helpful, you can always ask them for information. Wifi is available in the reception area.
The nearest beach is a couple of minutes trip by car down the hill (or you can go on foot, but be prepared for the sun and dust and the steep way back up) and it's very nice, with clear low water, clean sand and a friendly bar.
There are two restaurants very near, one on the premises (BBQ) and the other on the beach (La Tavernetta). Both are rather expensive; at BBQ we had a nice meal for about 70 euros both, their specialties are mostly grilled meat but they do have some delicious fish. La Tavernetta is supposed to be a fish specialist, but to be frank we were not enthused by the quality and quantity of the dishes, and we spent almost 100 euros. Much better deals elsewhere (e.g., at "La Conchiglia" in the nearby Porto San Paolo).
Other beaches are not far. There are some very beautiful ones at Capo Coda Cavallo, 10-15 minutes by car, but you have to get up early to find a place as they tend to be crowded and parking space is limited.

I liked best: the location, for the view and the evening breeze, and the fact of feeling like at home.
I liked least: the mattress of the bed, as the room had actually two single beds pushed together, so the mattress tended to move and leave a gap in the middle. But ok, I believe that makes for a flexible solution whether the tenants are a couple or just two friends.

Room Tip: If you like to go to bed early, try to get a room which is not near the BBQ restaurant. Noisy youngs...

Going with our 2 year old son, we needed an apartment that was quiet enough at night for sleeping, roomy enough for playing, practical for cooking and eating, and with a good atmosphere for staying at home at nights. And our two-room apartment at Lu Nibareddu had all those things. It was clean, simple, yet proper. Sitting outdoors on the terasse at nights was lovely! Also, it was very comfortable that with so many apartments, it still felt quite private, so we didn't feel bothered by other guests, or that we bothered them :)

The hotel's located in a quiet, small town (Montepetroso), but still only 5-10 minutes by car if you need to go shopping or just want to visit someplace else. With the beautiful view in the mornings and afternoons, and the beach 10 minutes walk (or 2 min by car) away, we found that it was a perfect location for a hotel.

The staff was very forthcoming and serviceminded and made an ekstra effort when we needed something.

We also had dinner and lunch several times at both the nearby restaurants, and they can both be recommended! Especially the seafood taverna by the beach.

We enjoyed it such that we're going back this summer, for two weeks this time!

Great area with beautiful beaches and clear clean ocean! Perfect for our family holiday - we will for sure be back!! The apartments was ok, not super modern, but clean, good price and fantastic location. The view was really impressive from our balcony. We really fell in love with the hotels restaurant by the beach (to recommend) very close to the private beach area. See u next year!

We stayed at this hotel back in September. We were looking for cheap and cheerful, and indeed we found cheap but not cheerful.
This resort was not impressive at all.

Firstly the good bits:
The location: without a car you are totally stranded. You must try to get a car if you are in this part of Sardinia. The resort is located nearby some of the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia : La Cinta, Capo Coda Cavallo, Porto Istana etc...are all about 15 mins drive from it which is absolutely great.

The bad:
The room we were given was right by the reception. As soon as we opened the veranda door my heart sank. There were two small beds sitting in the kitchen, with a small wooden table and a some cooking facilities, which were DIRTY. There were crumbs all over and even the cutlery tray was unclean...This place makes you pay to clean the kitchen otherwise you are supposed to clean it yourself. I happily cleaned the kitchen but I expect the hotel management to check the state of tit before letting new guests in to the room. Everything else was filthy too. The curtains and bed coverings were practically black.
The bedroom had a double 'bed' made up of the toughest materrasses I have ever slept on. After 3 days of not sleeping I went to reception asking for a different one, and I was firstly told that they would be able to change them, then they called a man who seems to be working as facility manager or something like that, who told us that those were new materrasses and that they didn't have any other. So their solution was to take the two dingy materrasses (dirty and stinky) from the two beds in the kitchen and put them on top of the tough materrasses in the bedroom. In addition to this, the extra pillows and blankets were very dirty.
The walls were also dirty with dead mosquitos and splashed blood... If the cleaners had checked the room before we got in, all these things could have easily been rectified... What a shame they didn't bother.

The shower was fun too! The water would suddently turn either freezing cold or boiling hot. Not pleasant at all.
As mentioned before, the kitchen was badly equipped. This is an italian resort catering for Italian AND foreign guests. As an Italian, I know that when I go to self-catering resorts we would expect some basics that perhaps are extras for non-local people, but that are essentials for us italians - a cheese grater was not available, they had just about one pot and one frying pan. Not to mention the fact that the cooker is gas operated and they had no lighter in the kitchen. We had to go and ask for one in reception.

The pool: Sardinia is notoriously windy so you don't expect it to be spotless, but they did nothing to clean and keep it tidy either. We wanted to use it once, but had to give up because it just looked like it hadn't been touched for ages.

All in all, cleaning and lack of facilities is a huge issue in this place. Add to this, poor customer service.

The beach is the big plus- BUT if you have an apartment at the top of the resort and you don't have a car it is a fairly long walk, whcih I wouldn't recommend in the heat when there is rick of fires.

The good bits...... I stayed in a beachside apartment with family and friends. The area was so beautiful and quiet, very relaxing! The beach is fabulous and has a lovely bar/cafe with tasty food during lunch and great friendly staff. It was also just a 2 minute walk (if that) from where we were staying. I would go back to that particular area of Sardinia anytime! OK, so we had to walk for 40 minutes every night for dinner but it was a very nice route with sea and countryside views. By the time you arrived at the restaraunt you were really ready for dinner, and by the time you arrived home again you were asleep before your head hit the pillow.

The bad bits..... We arrived at reception and checked in and at no point were we told that we needed to rent SHEETS! or TOWELS! So when we were driven to our apartment we were very suprised indeed. The beds were bare except for dirty blankets which looked like they had not been washed for a while. Had we have been warned we would have requested linen at reception, even though it was 13 euros for sheets per person and 7 euros for towels!!! When in the room there wasnt a phone available to call reception to ask for such things either.

I spent the first 15 mins of my holiday sweeping the floor as it was sooo sandy and dusty. Yuck!

There wasnt a good supply of hot water either so we had to spread our showers out throughout the day to ensure we all had some hot water.

Lastly we were warned to clean the kitchenette area or face a 35 euro fee. I didnt have a problem with that at all, its reasonable to expect people to clean up thier own mess. However, at least give me something to do it with?!? There wasnt even a dish cloth, let alone some kind of soap or detergent, and lets be honest, who packs a bottle of fairy to go on holiday?

I sound like a right moaner but normally Im very happy on holiday, all I need are three things, a clean room/apartment, a comfy bed and a hot shower in the morning. Unfortunately I didnt get any of those things.

So thats why this review is hard to write. I cant fault the area. It is beautiful, quiet and very relaxing and for that reason I had a really lovely holiday. However I would advise seeking alternative accomodation, somewhere with the luxury of sheets!

We booked a singleroom apartment near to the beach and it was a nightmare: incredibly small, dirty and equipped with old stuff. No air conditioning is insalled!! It was so warm that we could not sleep! And the stoves are in your bedroom, in front of your bed: can you imagine Sardinia in July, with 35°C outside, without air conditioning and with the stoves turned on? And we also had to eat without using the light in the evening due to tons of mosquitoes! Due to no air conditioning and the stoves to cook, we had to keep the windows (actually the bungalow's door opened). But if we turned the light on, we were killed by mosquitoes!!! On top, all this was incredibly expensive! 120 Euro per night for a single room (more a camping bungalow than other!!) without air conditioning and without even breackfast!!!And this was the holiday for our 1st anniversary of marriage.
Therefore we asked to be moved and we got a 2 rooms apartment farer from the see, were the residence is located. The qualty of the mattress was really poor (foam mattress), cleaning not so good (hairs in the toilette), the water in the swimmingpool is really dirty, but at least It was better it was more windy and we could sleep at night!! However, absolutely too expensive for the quality of services offered!
