Time is so precious, as are truly relaxing moments spent with friends away from the mad rush of daily life. Well, Brunton House is the place to escape to. Immaculately presented, with every creature comfort you could wish for, this is a time capsule of pure indulgence.
Set in gorgeous grounds with easy access to idyllic beaches, uplifting walks and characterful coastal villages, castles and pubs (!), Brunton House is a revelation of relaxation. Simply perfect in every way.
Brunton cottage and Mill Race are really well appointed and first class properties. Peaceful and calm overlooking a lovely stream with lots of wildlife. Lots of walks from the cottage and plenty of places nearby worth a visit. Highly recommended
Brunton House (sleeps 16+) and the nearby Brunton Burn (sleeps 2) are fantastic in an absolutely beautiful location with superb views and great but unobtrusive service from Chris Roberts who manages the place. We went there with family and friends to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and everything was perfect, even the weather (in early May!). Brunton House is roomy with everything finished to an extremely high standard and spotlessly clean. We cooked most meals ourselves but brought a chef in for our anniversary dinner - Fiona Burn, who was wonderful and adapted her menu to meet some of our idiosyncratic tastes.
There's lots to do in the area and we had a group walk along the coast, visited the kipper smokery at Caster and took a boat trip to the Farne Isles - well worth a visit. But best of all was spending time in Brunton House's gardens, playing games on the lawns and relaxing with a drink or two as the sun went down and using the games room for pool and table football late into the night.
This is the ideal place for large parties or, in their smaller cottage,s for couples. We had a wonderful time and "we'll be back"!
It has all been said. Owners Lucia and Mark have thought of everything. One more example to add to all the others mentioned by previous delighted guests - they provide a parking disc to use in the local towns.
Another thing: the absolute privacy, peace and quiet, apart from the water burbling down the old mill race, a truly hypnotic sight and sound as you stare out of the patio doors, and so relaxing. Yet many of the major sights are within a few miles: Alnwick, Bamburgh, Howick Hall, and the beaches, to name a few. And, Oh! those beaches, stretching to the far horizon and almost empty despite the fabulous sunny weather we have enjoyed. Just perfect.
We stayed in Brunton House last October with friends and enjoyed it so much we decided to return on our own, staying this time in Brunton Burn cottage. The cottage is beautifully furnished and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The bed is large and comfortable and the walk-in shower is superb. The view from the cottage and terrace over the burn is stunning.
A generous welcome basket completes the experience of staying in this wonderful cottage.
Situated off a quiet road, Brunton Burn is a spacious, comfortable and very well equipped cottage for two people. The living room/kitchen is charmingly furnished and the floor to ceiling window/patio door overlooks the tumbling burn. The bedroom has a 6 feet wide bed which is extremely comfortable and the bathroom has a bath and large walk-in shower. The whole property is immaculate.
Brunton Burn and its sister properties are all well placed for exploring the local attractions, including Alnwick, and you can take country walks from the cottage itself.
We could not fault this as a holiday home. Full marks to the owners for the attention to detail - nothing had been overlooked.
