Quiet restful location in a farm with river running outside window.
Nearest sea is at Embleton Bay a few minutes by car. Lovely walks to ruined castle.
Alnick Alnmouth Seahouses and Bambrough all within easy reach.
We had had a wonderful time at Brunton Burn. The accommodation was perfect. A welcome pack with local produce was an unexpected surprise. On opening the front door we were greeted by the most beautiful view of a 'burn'. The beaches at Bamburgh and Newton by the sea were just amazing. We were lucky to have sunny days but the walks on the beaches were incredible. We even managed a crab stottie and prosecco outdoors on my birthday at The Ship Inn (Newton by the Sea) after our long walk on the beach. A log burner was always awaiting our return with unlimited supply of logs. A visit to Barters books in Alnwick for breakfast (which was top quality) is a must. We used our National Trust membership at Cragside and Wallington House. A train ride to Edinburgh enabled us to meet up with our friends. We want to keep it a secret so it is always available for us but it is too gorgeous not to share.
We first stayed in Mill Race in October 2012 when I proposed to my now wife, Elly, on nearby Bamburgh beach. It was our first trip back since, and this time we were accompanied by our daughter Freya, just four months old. We had a wonderful week enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the cottage, as well as wonderful walks along the Northumbrian coastline. The owners and manager couldn’t have been more helpful or welcoming and the cottage was as perfect as we remembered it. We will definitely be back!
Faultless luxury accommodation in beautiful Northumberland. Booked house and cottage for 21 family members , aged 5 - 80 to celebrate my retirement. The help and assistance from Chris was fabulous from our first enquiry to booking our chef. Plenty of space and things to do no matter what the weather. We all loved the house that much we are looking to make this an annual event.
Brunton House is THE most fabulous place. We stayed for a celebratory long weekend with family from all over the country and have discovered a very special place. Everything has been thought of here, you will want for nothing. Super friendly people, stunning location, incredible house, pure luxury. Wonderful food from Mick Holland too. Great place for kids and grown ups too. We will definitely be back.
I stayed at Brunton Burn and could see immediately why Visit England had awarded this property 5 stars. It was immaculate and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage is in a very peaceful spot yet within easy reach of the A1 and there are a host of places to visit. I particularly enjoyed the drive across the moors to Cragside [NT], Holy Island, the walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castleand Alnwick Castle and Gardens. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway I can fully recommend this charming barn conversion.
We have just returned from a week at Brunton House celebrating a 70th birthday and none of us wanted to leave. We were a mixed age group (oldest 70, youngest 10 plus a couple of little dogs) and the house and surrounding area had plenty to keep everyone happy. The house itself has been decorated to an extremely high standard. It was immaculately clean on arrival with a very generous welcome basket left for us in the kitchen. It is spacious, elegant and very comfortable. The beds, bed linen and bath towels were all top quality too. The house is surrounded by fields, woodland and a garden with a play area for children (swings, swing ball, badminton) and very close to the most amazing sandy beaches and castles. A trip out to the Farne Islands is highly recommended too. All in all a wonderful week and we'll definitely be coming back!
