I've now been three times for Sunday lunch with George Biron at Sunnybrae, and I'm sorry that there will be no more. The place is on the market, and apparently a VERY famous chef is interested in taking over the property. He'll need to be good: George provided wonderful ambience, and great local fresh ingredients that were imaginatively cooked. The price per head was always below $100. It was an ideal way to spend a Sunday afternoon in winter.

We have been to Sunnybrae several times, because it is so good. With a group you really enjoy the quality and range of food being offered to you. Being able to sit in a part of someone's home and be served course after course of food prepared to the highest professional standard is a real privilege. You can enjoy it to the maximum because you have the whole afternoon and can walk in the garden between courses. The service is also wonderful - helpful and informative without being in any way patronising.

At the time of writing George is seeking to sell the business. I hope whoever takes it over will be able to maintain the very high standard, because Sunnybrae is an asset to the area and indeed the state.

You would be hard pressed to fill any afternoon with a better experience than this. The food, service and location gave us way more than we expected. We needed a few minutes outside gazing at the countryside to prepare for the rest of the meal! It can be tricky raving about a place after one visit but I suspect we won't be disappointed when we go back. I wouldn't say it was a "cutting edge" meal with a super trendy twist if that's what you are looking for but it was well prepared, well thought out food put together by an experienced and talented chef. If he's been around a kitchen or two it showed on the best possible way. I have pointed a number of friends to Sunnybrae and none were disappointed.

My second visit. A whole afternoon delight. 5 courses under 100 bucks, you can't go wrong. Food, amazingly inventive with a European vibe. Modern, fresh, seasonal, everything you want and expect.
Wine list great.
You can not be disappointed.

We booked Sunnybrae for a birthday lunch with a table of 10. We were greeted upon arrival and escorted to a room in the lovely house. Surprisingly this restaurant caters for a large crowd but we were in a room to ourselves which was nice. The 5 course meal came with more options than I expected, all of which sounded incredible. The food was fantastic. Great pace and deliciously fresh ingredients. Expect to spend a good 4-5 hours here. Enjoy the garden, enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Get the Elderflower cordial! And book well in advance and before they sell!
