Just been to The New Inn for a great meal. It was really busy but it didn't affect the quality of the food or the efficiency of service. Gary, Maxine and their staff make you feel really welcome.
We ate our meal in the lounge but the bar had a great atmosphere going on too. We would definitely recommend The New Inn for a great night out.

Me and my boyfriend travelled around Scotland for a a few weeks and we have to say, The New Inn was our highlight of the whole trip. When we arrived the owners Gary and Maxine welcomed us in. We felt very comfortable, the fires in the pub were already roaring and was lovely after coming in from the cold. They showed us our room. It was gorgeous, very cosy, lots of space. Nice tea and biscuits so we could make our own! When we went down for lunch, it got even better! The food was outstanding, we saw lots of locals also coming in for food. Apparently its the place to come for a great meal! We ordered homemade steak pie with veg and gravy.....wow!! Delicious....In the evening we met some great people. There was a live music gig on and we did not stop laughing all night. Gary brought out a cheeseboard later on before we went to bed! After a great sleep.....the breakfast was the icing on the cake! So So tasty English breakfast....we stayed for 3 more extra nights....we didnt plan to! Good price too....We visited the beach 20mins from the Inn and went for lots of walks, Maxine told us all the history of the area. 100% recommend

On the off chance we went to the New Inn for Sunday lunch we were pleasantly surprised, we only ordered main course and were glad we did The chicken dinner was more than enough for anyone , the helpings were excellent and the food was very tasty and served with a smile, the woman serving twice asked us if everything was ok, I was disappointed I hadn't enough room for a sweet as the sticky Toffee pudding looked magic, we will return

Great local inn, friendly owners, superb locally sourced food, great choice of menu all made in the kitchen of Gary. Great atmosphere whenever visited, always real ale on tap and now scrumpy jack is available too, alongside various spirits and Scottish whiskies. Wood burning stoves provide a welcome ambience befitting many weary travellers. The owners have dedicated a real ale in memory of the local poet Auld Broon who frequented the inn and recited many a local tale around the open fire. The owners also encourage locals and musicians in the area to spend the evening entertaining the customers with all sorts of instruments.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The New Inn is a traditional and welcoming historic inn set in the heart of Aberchirder providing eating, drinking, gatherings and lodgings for the local community and visitors. We love Real Ale here as well as good, honest home-cooking. There is a changing selection of 5 hand pull ales on a weekly basis and the Menus can change just as often! Aberchirder is an 18th century planned village locally known as Foggieloan which was the original name given by the Founder; Alexander Gordon, the laird of Auchintoul in 1764. The village is nestled into a hillside with the beautiful Cleanhill woods to the west and outstanding views all around. We are located in the heart of the village, just a hop skip and a jump from The Square. We are only 12 miles from the bustling and creative town of Huntly, roughly 10 miles from the stunning Moray & Banffshire coastlines and we have great access to three award winning whisky distilleries which are all around a 10 minute drive. We are great base for exploring this wonderful part of North East Scotland. The Inn has 4 bedrooms with shared bathrooms, public bar, dining room and a private hall seating up to 100 people for weddings, parties and meetings. The building is like a rabbit warren having being altered and extended over the years, with parts of the inn dating back to 1765 and with nooks, crannies and uneven floors. Due to the age of the building the bedrooms above the bar can be a little noisy until around 00.30, especially on weekends, most of our guests can be found joining in and getting to know the local people, however we do have a quiet petit double bedroom available. Here at The New Inn we offer traditional hospitality where the spirit and character of the people are the heartbeat of the place. ... more   less
