The Wheatsheaf in Dunham on the Hill USED to be a proper country pub, with real food, cooked in a real kitchen. Now it seems to have followed the Henry Ford Model of pile it high and sell it cheap. Yes, you get big portions, but the quality of the food is dire - I'd be surprised if anything we ate today wasn't just a ready meal reheated in the microwave.
The children's menu encourages the children to pick a dish, then there is a menu of how they would like their potatoes, and then tells them to pick an accompanying vegetable. Apparently, alphabetti spaghetti is a vegetable.
There is a beer garden with climbing frames and a zip line for the children, which was great for our young 'uns, but this really did seem to be the only redeming feature.
The bin in the beer garden was overflowing, with piles of rubbish strewn on the floor around the bin - it actually looked like it hadn't been emptied in days.
When we needed to use the WC, I wished we'd waited until we got home. They were filthy, and quite disgusting. All three cubicles in the ladies were out of paper. One cubicle had the toilet seat broken off and leaning against the wall. Another had blood soaked tissues on the floor.
Needless to say - we won't be going back.
