“Truly outstanding for families”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

Kionslieu Farm Cottages were truly outstanding as a venue for our three families in August 2013. The cottages are charming: beautifully presented and fully equipped, in a lovely farm setting. Our grandchildren were encouraged to feed and pet the animals and take them for walks, which they enjoyed greatly. There was also plenty of play equipment - indoors and out. Fiona and Tony were very welcoming - kind, helpful and genuinely interested in what we were doing. We were all sorry to leave, but will be back.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are quiet and are sunny at some time in the day

we were due to stay with friends but that suddenly fell through the night before we were about to fly over. a quick search on beloved Trip Advisor brought up Kionslieu. We would have been happy with anywhere given we had no other accommodation but we were delighted with the farm cottage (Turkeytree) which we lucky enough to get after a last minute cancellation left it available. The children loved the horses and going to feed the chickens each morning and the play area and swingball were excellent too. The cottage was very spacious and had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent. The location is good for getting to Douglas or Peel and Tynwald Mills. We would stay there again.

We had a brilliant stay, even with all the snow the roads were cleared quickly and it was easy to get everywhere on the island.
The accomodation is like a home from home, everything you need is provided. Very comfortable and being in a larger group there was enough room for us to get together for meals etc

We've just returned from a long weekend at Kionslieu which is our first experience of the farm and the Isle of Man. We had a thoroughly fantastic time and are so pleased we chose to stay there. The owners were very welcoming and were more than happy for you to make the farm your home. We stayed in the Haybarn as there were 5 adults and one toddler in our group, and it exceeded our expectations. The cottage was very spacious with everything you'd need and more for a comfortable stay. The highlight was definitely the access to the farm; our two year old daughter was absolutely besotted with the goats and horses in particular, never mind the playhouse and play area. She was even talking in her sleep on the last night about 'wanting to stay at the holiday house forever'. We'd definitely recommend Kionslieu as a perfect base for a holiday in the Isle of Man, but just be prepared that your children might never want to leave.

Stayed in Redwheel Cottage for a week in April. Lovely, homely and clean cottage with everything we could possibly need. The twin bedroom was beautiful - light and airy. We loved to open the curtains first thing in the morning and watch the horses being led past (while still lying in bed!) Although we didn't have children with us, it is an ideal place for them - friendly animals, great play area with swings and slides etc. Fiona and Tony made us feel very welcome.
It's a good location for walking and ideally situated for visiting other parts of the island.
We wanted a peaceful, relaxing and stress-free holiday and this is what we got! Would have loved to have stayed longer!

Our cottage was spacious, warm and comfortable, and was great value for money. It was situated in a great central island location, which meant it was efficient to see all parts of this lovely island. We Will definitely return to Kionslieu Cottages at some near point in the future.

We first stayed at Kionslieu for 2 weeks in 2006 for the TT event.

We took Peacock's Rest which was all and possibly more than we could ever have hoped for. It was ideal for our needs, as there were just the 2 of us. The cottage was beautifully maintained and presented, yet homely and welcoming. Fiona especially was always on hand if help or advice was needed.
We returned again in 2007 for 4 days, at relatively short notice, and thankfully Fiona was able to offer us Blackberry as an alternative.
It's just a wonderful place to be, peace and quiet, other than a few bleating sheep in the adjacent field, the occasional sound of horsehoes on cobblestones, and chickens quietly talking amongst themselves.
Kionslieu is set quietly on the edge of Foxdale, in the middle of green rolling countryside, yet with the help of a small hire car, it is centrally placed to get to out and about to much of the island's sights and towns.
We initially stocked up at the large supermarket close to the harbour and Steam Railway station in Douglas, but then used the general store adjacent to the filling station in Foxdale itself. It's a pleasant 15 minute walk from the Farm itself, for the fit and able.

It's been a few years now, but we always send the family an e-card at Christmas, and one day, I know we shall return again. I sent my cousin and her husband a few years ago instead. They likewise fell in love with the place too.

Room Tip: If contemplating booking any Kionslieu cottage for the TT or MGP events, its best to book well in ad...
