Big Falls Extreme Adventures
Reviewed June 11, 2013

i did the zipline and tubing package with a group from school. the zipline was actually 5 different lines, which was awesome. the views were beautiful, however the structures were a little creaky and scary! the river tubing was relaxing and fun. we loved the guide perfecto. the warm spring was so beautiful and unique. it was definitely worth it. at the office there was CLEAN bathrooms! (something we hadn't had in a while!)

On the way to Punta Gorda Town in the southern most part of Belize known as the Toledo District is a cool spot overlooking a grand river. After stopping for a dip in the river and a couple of cold beers, we also decided to try our hands at the fun activities the establishment offered-zip lining and river tubing. The platforms were very accessible and after a brief but very thorough "how to" we were zipping through the trees. The lines go for a good distance, aren't too steep so that you are cruising the entire time and the platforms get higher and higher. You get a birds eye view of the river on a few of the runs and each time the view just gets better. The last run ends right at the bar! In total contrast to the rush of zipping is the river tubing which is a lazy glide down the Big Falls River. At one point we were just enthralled with the sounds of nature and the light show that was being reflected off the water to the canopy of leaves above us. A stop at a mineral springs was a real treat topped off with a fresh cut coconut that had plenty of juicy coconut water and a generous shot of coconut rum. Warning: The sardines (which we playfully renamed piranhas) are a bit aggressive but we appeased them somewhat by offering them coconut which they greedily devoured. Upon our return to the bar we ate a very tasty local meal of rice and beans with stew chicken which was a part of the package. An overall fun experience with a really great group of people.

My wife and I had a great time zipping through the rain forest, tubing the river and stopping at the hot springs for a coconut rum. Andrew and Perfecto were professional, courteous and safe. The lunch was also excellent. We also took the Hokey Dokey water taxi($12Belician dollars Round trip) from Placencia to cut off drive time and Andrew's nephew picked us up and drove us the 45 miles. We recommend it.

Had a funfilled day at Big Falls Extreme Adventures...Really loved the mixture of forest and river when ziplining..it's the complete package and the river tubing was so very relaxing. Not to mention the Hot Spring that we stopped by – now that was beautiful! The guides were very patient with us and made us feel quite comfortable, even when i got a bit scared.

We met a young man, Mark (Macario) on the beach of Placencia. For the same price listed on the Big Falls web site, he offered to take us to the Big Falls. He met us early morning at our hotel Cozy Corner and escorted us by water taxi and bus to Big Falls. We had an awesome time. Neither one of us had zip lined before. Andrew, Mark and GIlbert were excellent at assuring our safety and comfort. It was an awesome experience and made me wonder why it took so long for me to zip line. I had always wanted to do it over a jungle setting, and it did not disappoint. After zip lining we rafted down the Rio Grande. It is a very slow moving river and the guides very often had to assist by pushing us along. The tour promotes a stop at a hot spring, it is not a hot spring, but a lovely little area to sit and enjoy a coconut with rum that local Coconut Jones serves there. When you first get in the little fish nibble at you, exfoliating dead skin, it kind of tickles, but they soon leave you alone. When the coconut drink is gone you are back on the rafts and finish the float. Upon arrival a Belizian lunch was waiting for us, rice and beans, salad and stewed chicken. Well worth your time and money.
