Owner description: The Mossman Gorge Centre is an Indigenous eco tourism development that will better serve visitors to the Mossman Gorge World Heritage site. Mossman Gorge provides one of Australia’s most iconic Aboriginal experiences in Tropical North Queensland and is the perfect option for visitors looking for genuine, authentic engagement with Indigenous Australia. At the Mossman Gorge Centre you will find an array of services to help you organise your adventure through the Gorge. Staff at the Visitor Information desk will assist you in planning your route around the Gorge, as well as book your Dreamtime Walk. Plan your route over a coffee at the café or peruse the art gallery, a pleasure that might have more relevance after hearing about the Dreamtime stories from the Kuku Yalanji people. An eco-friendly, low emission shuttle bus is available from the Mossman Gorge Centre to the heart of the Gorge. A “must do” for every visitor to Mossman Gorge are the Indigenous guided Dreamtime Walks, conducted by the traditional owners of the Gorge, the Kuku Yalanji people. Ngadiku (Nar-di-gul) meaning stories and legends from a long time ago in local Kuku Yalanji language, takes you on a journey along private, easy graded tracks, visiting special places and culturally significant sites, past traditional bark shelters and over meandering cool rainforest streams.

“Simply the BEST”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

We participated in the 2.5 hour Dreamtime Walk with Cameron. We had a wonderful time walking though the rainforest and learning about the plants and animals that live there. The walk began with the smoke ceremony to welcome us. We stopped at the huge rock to watch a cultural performance by a member of the Kuku Yalanji tribe. Cameron also demonstrated what they use to paint their bodies. At the end of the walk we had tea and damper. Everyone was so friendly. The Mossman Gorge Centre and the Ngadiku Dreamtime Walk should definitely be on everyone's itinerary when visiting QLD.

“Great project”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic work done here in building a lasting relationship between the forest, the local community and the center. A beautiful walk, bus transportation and for only a few dollars. If you have a car, worth a stop.

“Beautiful but”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

We went on the dreamtime tour because of all the great reviews, and did learn a lot about the forest, but the guide wasn't very friendly and didn't want to answer questions (about trees etc, nothing controversial). The gorge is beautiful and wonderful to swim in, but you can do that for free with the normal entrace ticket.

“Highlight of the holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

Like a previous review we had the privilege of going on the Dreamtime Legends walk with Roy. From walking through the smoke of a fire in welcome, receiving fascinating information about the indigenous culture to the dance outlining the indigenous spiritual history this was totally magical.
Later in the holiday my wife was bitten by ants and the local farmacist could only prescribe a limited medicine to help. Conversely Roy would have known that there is a fern that can be used instead and where to find it!
At the end of the walk while we were waiting for the shuttle bus Roy entertained us with a succession of stories about the bush.

“Don't miss it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

We caught the bus to do the self guided 2.4k walk around the gorge. Well worth the effort , the scenery and rainforest just amazing . Tip - put your swimmers on before the walk as there are a few swimming areas on the way that you can have a dip in as you can get quite hot whilst doing the walk. You can take a picnic lunch with you as there is some tables available . We had a swim there and it was quite cold but very refreshing after the walk .had a snack and drink back at the restaurant and food was of a high standard.
