“Well worth the diversion”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

We last walked up the Mossman Gorge 18 years ago and it was hard yakka. It was obvious then that this beautiful area had to be looked after and protected while still offering good access to those who appreciate the world for what it is.
We were delighted with what has happened with the new visitor centre, transformation of the walks, and the general care of this important ecological area. Only the most vulgar tourists from city areas would think otherwise. Certainly not a place for screaming kids who just want to play and eat ice cream.
For most people heading from Port Douglas up to the Daintree or beyond - we suggest you go early, take your time and enjoy this incredible piece of nature.
Tip: Pay for the return bus trip - the walk is much too far on a hot day unless you are super fit,

“Mossman gorge”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Beautiful place, although there was not much water in any of the creeks. There were people swimming in the water holes on a very warm day, we were astounded to see fish swimming and been feed by the people in the water holes. The cultural centre and cafe were very well run with wonderful staff who explained about the aboriginal ties to the gorge. For those of us who are not too fit, it was great to be able to be bussed up to the gorge with a short walk to the gorge.

“Dreamtime in the Daintree Forest”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

At the Mossman Gorge Centre you begin your journey. We took two tours - the self-guided one and went back a few days later for the Dreamtime Legend Walk. The Dreamtime walk with our Yalanji host was a stand-out. We learned about traditional plant use, heard dreamtime stories, discussed animals, all the while following our host along well laid out trails, At the stream beach and later while having a bush tea and damper there was time to converse with our host and learn more about Yalanji culture, e.g. marriage, "sacred women's business", hunting and seasonal movement from ocean to rain forest to outback .

“Waste of time.... go to Skyrail Forest Cableway instead”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

we did both... we were very disappointed with Mossman. You don't get to see a gorge.. rather, it should be titled... a walk in the rainforest... and not even the best. We lived in Brasil for several years and know rainforests.. this was not a good experience. On the other hand... go to Kuranda instead.. it is VERY impressive

“Breathtaking scenery”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

I walked the 2km around Mosman Gorge. It was amazing easy walk, recommend good shoes as a bit uneven and slippery. But well worth the walk, I spent hours in here absorbing the amazing sights and sounds. I managed to see lizards, bush turkey, butterfly's - four different types. A number of different birds, really was a great way to spend a few hours.

The shuttle and staff at cafe were great. A must if you are in the area for sure.

A swim would have been great, looked very inviting.
