The Mossman Gorge is a definite stop off on your way to the Daintree or even if you're looking for something to do. It costs $4.50 for the return bus trip which you could spend the whole day up there with a picnic! We did the 2km walk and came across a little creek with a pristine little swimming pool. We also found another spot on the track away from the main swimming area which we had the whole area to ourselves.

Spent half day at the gorge with teen kids. Bus service to entry to gorge seemed to be fairly regular, we didn't wait long. The walk to the swimming area is quite short and no walking shoes are required. The longer walk takes about 45 minutes and shoes and a bottle of water are needed. Nice swimming area, cold water, birds and butterflies to see. Lots of people brought their own sandwiches, drinks etc.

Had a late lunch at the cafe which was very nice. Kangaroo steak was brought to our table in error, but it looked great! We had burgers, wraps and focaccia, all very nice.

Only negative I could find was that none of the staff were very welcoming. Nobody in the centre, on the bus or in the cafe smiled or even said hello.

A good half day out.

The green is so intense. The walkway built above the forest floor gives a bird's eye view. The swimming area was calm and so refreshing. For a very reasonable fee a bus takes visitors to the start of the walk. A lovely place to visit!

We stayed in Port Douglas recently and hired a car and drove to the Mossman Gorge Centre. This facility is state of the art and very well looked after! It controls tour bookings, shuttle bus purchases, has toilet facilities and also a cafe (which we didn't eat ate but saw some of the meals and they looked/smelt amazing).

We paid $8 to get a shuttle up to the start of the rainforest walks (please note no bins are provided up there so if you have rubbish either get rid of it before hopping on the shuttle or keep it with you to do away with once you get back to the centre).

There are quite a few walks to choose from so it really depends on your fitness and what you want to do, we ventured on the smallest walk which takes you to the beautiful swimming hole (yes-take your swimmers!) and then on to the suspension bridge.

The scenery is stunning and the area is nice and peaceful, I recommend a trip out to here......it can be done in a half day or you can spend the day bush walking/swimming if you would prefer.
