My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Xibalba for just one night in December of 2004. Our room was clean and reasonably quiet; we stayed in the end room on the second floor of the main building. The plumbing worked well and the neighborhood is wooded. I felt the staff were very welcoming, which is why I gave the hotel an above average rating. If you plan to stay in Palenque town when visiting the ruins, the Xibalba is convenient. It is a short walk to the bus station or banks in town, and close to the big Maya head where it is easy to catch a shared van to the ruins. The cost of the van ride was 10 pesos per tourist when we were there; local people ride cheaper. We moved from the Xibalba to Margarita and Ed's in El Panchan close to the ruins only because we were seeking a location other than being in town.
