Two couples stayed at the Xibalba for 5 nights while we visited not only Palenque, but several other nearby archaeological sites. Marco Morales, the owner, was very personable and helpful, as was the rest of his staff. They made us feel at home, while giving us useful infomation - even led us to a few interesting local places that we asked about. The food was very good in the restaurant and a little cheaper than others close by. The entire setting was lovely - in the edge of the forest on a dead end street, yet close to town. No big tourist buses here or hordes of people. We had small, clean, air conditioned rooms, although we did not use the air every night. (And plenty of hot water). The ceiling fan with open windows was quite nice and quiet. We even heard the howler monkeys one night! Mr. Morales has a travel agency and arranged the exciting tour to Piedras Negras with Mr. Willie. Well worth while if you are in to adventure plus!
