“Great ruins. Worth a visit”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

DO NOT TAKE A JUNGLE TOUR - nothing to see. Its more useful to pay for the tour in the uncovered restored area. We got caught and did it the other way around - regret this.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

Palenque is a long way off the beaten track but it really is worth it. The site is fantastic really well kept and beautiful.
There's alot of street sellars but they're fine and accept a 'np thankyou'. although some are wortha second look!
We parked at the top by the market stalls which was convenient. Alternative parking is by the museum but that is quite a walk uphill if you're not terribly mobile.
It really is a 'must see'
Make sure you go into the area that is unexcavated in the forest,it's really beautiful.

“Early morning a magical time”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

We arrived at the archeological park when they opened the doors because the less people the better, even though it is a huge park. The most important buildings are close enough the one the other and the place seems crowded without really being so. When you go early you can hear the birds and the animals and you can feel the good energy of the place. We could not climb to pakal's tomb or see the tomb of the Red lady ( red colored skeleton due to some substance thrown to the dead) because they were sealed to avoid decay. they have a Pakal's Tomb replica in the Museum. After a long tour mostly unde the shades of trees we reached the Museum you should not miss. Also, the quesadillas at the snack bar were very delicious!!!!

“Beyond the dimensions of time and space”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

When you are in the archeological site of Palenque, the best is you take time! Let yourself disappear in the jungle or blend yourself energetically into the vibration of the space while sitting on top of one of the temples. Let you carry away - and do not so much allow your head to dictate you. Your conditioned head won't be so much able to understand that place, but allowing your body with its 5 senses to perceive it: that's the richness of Palenque!
Best is, you enter, as soon as the gates open at 8:00am, because by 10:00am the tourist buses have usually filled the precious place. Or you go even there, when it is raining - or stay there when almost all people have left because of a big rain, because this assures you to feel the place with its strong energy.

“Timeless beauty”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

The ruins are in the edge of a jungle, and you can hear the screams of monkeys. The experience of being there is incredible since they are so well taken care of. The place was clean, and we could walk on our own, and the nearby river was under the shade of the trees, with a very special coolness in a warm day.
