We regularly use another Westgate curry house and thought that we would try here for a change. The first thing that we noticed was how quiet this establishment is. Having spoken to a few friends it would seem that this is normal for here and not just the night that we went.
The first thing that we noticed was how passionate the owner was about Indian food. He explained every dish to us in great detail and then explained how his wife cooked the dish to make it her own. Quite impressed by this we placed our order and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited.
During this time I can only assume that the lady was charging around in the kitchen while the owner hovered around us at the table, casually joining in with our conversation. The food seemed to take forever to arrive and we waited patiently despite suggesting to the owner that he may want to help his wife out to speed it up.
Once the food arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very flavourful, hot, and well portioned. Once served the owner pulled up a chair and insisted on sitting at the table to see what we thought. Despite several hints to try and get rid of him this continued until we had almost finished.
Would we return here?
In short, no.
Food, authentic and well cooked, reasonably priced.
Atmosphere, uncomfortable and overbearing due to owner.
We will stick to the other Westgate curry house.
