Went to Westgate yesterday for a day trip with our children and grand children. The weather was overcast but the grandchildren had a great time on the beach while the tide was coming in digging sand castles. I was surprised by the number of people that were there the beach was almost empty. With free parking on the road and a decent cafe for teas and coffees this is the ideal place for a day out with young children who enjoy playing on the beach.

We were heading to Minnis Bay but came to this bay first so stayed here, lovely sandy beach, we arrived at high tide so only a tiny bit of sand but by the time we had got ourselves organised it had gone out a lot, not to busy even though we were here on a sunny Sunday in school holidays, lovely sand and calm water, ice creams/basic beach shop/toilets and life guards, believe there is a cafe but didn't go in here, would recommend and we could park on the road next to the beach for free, just chuck our buckets and spades over the sea wall, drove through Minnis Bay on the way home and it looked as good but way busier. Stopped off for some oyster at whitstable on the way home - perfect!

The kids can swim in this certified blue flag beach and then go to the excellent cafe for a bite to eat whilst watching the best sunsets on the Kent coast!

a beautifal beach that is worth visiting all year round
the beach is clean and well maintained
I live close to this beach and like to walk on it all the time, in the summer the atmosphere is amazing - the beach huts are lovely and people fill the place.

Wondrous Dreamy Ab Fab Place...

I am in love with West Bay... it truly is a wonderful seaside place to be and dream of lovely things as one sits by the sea and sand, with the sea birds and clouds... watching the world go by as they say... a super 'prom' and the uber lovely and welcoming West Bay Cafe are a bonus... rarely does one see a grumpy face and the newly painted Beach Huts look adorable...
