“Great place for tea and cake”
Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

We only discovered Teacake a couple of months ago but have been there several times since for morning coffee. It's a lovely place, especially if the weather is good enough to sit outside. The owners are friendly without being intrusive. And the cakes are good too.

“Settle for the cake and coffee”
Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

Settle for when what you want is really just cake and coffee - both excellent - rather than lunch. Going for some sort of lunch does not work so well. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

“Gluten Free Palace!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

This is one of the few cafes in the universe that welcomes coeliacs with open arms. I had the most wonderful cake, and a lovely slice of cake whilst being able to read the paper in a true olde worlde atmosphere. Heaven!

Thank you, your comments are appreciated.
We endeavour to provide gluten free cakes sometimes more than one option (ring us first to check)
Also gluten free bread for sandwiches.
Delighted you enjoyed your visit.

“Great for cake, disappointing lunch, poor value for money!”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

A group of five of us visited following a visit to Docwras Manor gardens (next door). I had been a couple of times before for coffee, so suggested we had lunch there. It was however very disappointing. A 'salad' I term this loosely as the few green leaves on the plate were little more than a garnish, a small amount of beetroot and feta cheese with a thin slice of bread spread with guacamole formed the main course salad. The combination was delicious, but for £6.95 the portion size did not constitute a lunchtime salad! We all felt the salads/ sandwiches were poor for the price, and so in future I'll pop in for coffee, but nothing more than that!!!

Thank you for your views concerning your light lunch at Teacake.
Whilst we were delighted your liked the combination, sorry that you found the portion size of your salad disappointing.
We endeavour to offer value for money and as the name suggests these are light salads and offered as an alternative to sandwiches/soup and bread. Accepting that customers appetites vary we would always be happy to supply additional Cobs Super seedy organic bread and butter at no extra cost, if such a request were made at the time / presentation of the salad.

Should you choose to compare the cost of one of our salads £6.75 – £6.95 to say a “starter” in a pub or local restaurant £5.50 - £8.50, then we believe they represent value for money.

Please call in for a coffee and Teacake on us, when I hope we might have the opportunity of talking through any lingering concerns. Delighted to read you still love our Coffee and Cakes!
