We just happened upon this pub whilst heading back to where we were staying in nearby Greystoke and have to admit wasn't expecting too much. We opted to be seated in the bar so spliced out order at the bar and wasn't waiting overly long for fresh cooked food. And what food it was between us we ordered the steak and ale pie, lasagne and the burger. All arrived nicely presented and plenty of it. My dad declared the pie to be the 'best he's ever tasted', the steak burger with the works was good and just pink enough to be nice and tender Only the lasagne was disappointing with the texture of the meat resembling dog food as it seemed to be too finely minced but it tasted good. My only complaint would be the service. The pub wasn't busy and my daughter ordered a pudding and when it arrived the waitress just plonked it in the middle of the dirty plates and promptly left without clearing the table leaving us to rearrange the rather large plates to make room for the pudding. However I would return as the quality of the food outshone the service.
