I finally made to the park something I had inteneded to do since my children were young. We made it and they are now 22 and 24.
There is lots to see and do the park itself has plenty of space you can bring you own food barbque the kids can splash in the water area . Take tram rides. Adults can view art, see a large range of vechilcles in the motor museum.
And you can get sugar overload in the lollie shoppe.

If you have overseas visitors this is a good place to go. Full of Kangas and other native animals this peaceful park gives a great insight into WA's wildlife.

With my family of 8, we visited Caversham wildlife park on a bright early morning. We loved the kangaroos, koalas and the sheep shearing show! My two kids were asked to feed the baby lambs and I was impressed by the whip cracking demonstration... Whew... Not easy to get the whip to crack though. One of the audience gave it a shot and actually hit himself. Ouch! A nice place to bring the kids and they loved it. My 2 year old went around catching birds. So cute. Bring some food though, not much choice except for some snacks, rolls and sandwiches at the small cafe. The owner was a nice and friendly man with a beautiful heart! Could even speak a bit of bahasa Malaysia and my local dialects. A well-travelled guy!

The experiences were priceless! It was our first tangible experiences with wombat, koalas and kangaroos! Visiting Caversham Wildlife Park is more fun than Perth Zoo though it is quite far from Perth CBD. However, went there is not a problem for the backpackers since Australia has quite efficient public transportation system. Well, it's a worth if you asked the train officers. They are friendly and helpful.

How to go there by public transportation:
From Perth Station, take Midland Line. Stop at Bassendean Station. It takes 20 minutes ride. Go to the bus stop (just opposite the train stop). Make sure you are at the right bus stop. Take Transperth Bus no.955 or 956. The ride is about 15 minutes. Stop at The Whiteman Park.

After we arrived, we walked into the park and there was a stop. It has a phone booth where the visitors supposed to call Caversham Wildlife Park pick-up service. Unfortunately, the phone broke down! We walked ahead and saw a office (i think it is research center). We asked one of the officer to call the pick up service for us. Thanks to her! Or else we might ended up walking for 1.8km! So you might want to have your phone with you. Within minutes, the van arrived.

Overall, the place is worth your times. The fee is AUD23/adults. Whether you are adults or kids, you are going to love this place! We spend 5 hours to catch all the shows. You can see many types of animals such as koalas, kangaroos, wombat, snakes, possums, black swans, farm animals etc. We have our lunch there. The small cafe has Halal food as well (meat pie only).

As a last minute gesture for our sons birthday Caversham Park loomed before us so we thought why not. We are from Perth but we had never been!!! Oh goodness we'll definitely be back!! Gorgeous setting, lovely people to deal with, from the lady at the front desk to the lady cleaning out the Finches/Black Cockatoo Cage absolutely beautifully polite and friendly people. I am disabled and cannot walk far at once, there are seats everywhere for you to take a rest and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and surroundings :). The animals were happy and well fed, unlike other zoo's I have been too, you can SEE the difference with these animals :) Also the passion with the workers! My partner is now sending through to become a volunteer :) Thank you, beautiful day had by all!!
