Owner description: Douro Fluvina is a small company that charter yachts on the Douro river water way in Portugal. The company owns a small Marina with all facilities. Our boats are 28ft Motor Sail Yacht. The Douro water way starts on the Atlantic coast at Porto, and comprises five connected lakes that extend for 200 km to the border with Spain.Along the river there are free public piers with charming little family-run restaurants nearby where you can have superb meals, At some piers there are also small hotels and shops. All prices are very good.As these are inland waters it's perfect for a first charter experience. You can explore the valley with our boats and stop were ever you like, take tours by train along the valley, walk in the vineyards, visit farms and small towns or simply swim in the warm clear waters of the river. The climate is pleasant at any time of year.Give it a go. It's great fun, great value for money and thoroughly enjoyable!

“Good friends, good wine, good time!”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

A fantastic time on the River Douro, great scenery and have met some great people and made some very good friends. The whole set up is very well run and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. I would highly recommend this holiday to anyone who has some sailing/boating experience. This is a holiday that will be repeated.

“Relax and tranquility”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

It was our second stay at this fabulous hotel and we're sure we'll be back again. This is absolutely fantastic place. All you can see is river and the mountains which are incredible, all you can hear is silence and all you can feel is tranquility. The accommodation (we stayed in bungalow) is cozy and convenient and equipped with all necessary devices such as fridge, stove with oven, heater and cooler. It has big terrace with a spectacular view onto the river. The staff is attentive and benevolent. They also organize boat trips along Douru river. We would recommend this incredible place for everyone.

“Spectacular sailing on the river Douro”
Reviewed September 19, 2011

We've just spent a wonderful week sailing a chartered yacht on the River Douro. The yacht is a 26' MacGregor, easy to handle but still big enough to have a roomy V berth, which allowed us to sleep comfortably - and my husband's 6'3! The galley's not huge but, as we ate out a lot at the lovely little family restaurants in the villages we moored at, that was fine. I especially recommend trying the Bago D'ouro restaurant, lovely food, reasonable prices and friendly people.

You pick the boat up at Ferradosa on the river near Sao Joao de Pesqueiras and sail or motor east, up the river towards Spain. The scenery is just breath-taking all the way up the river. The furthest point is Barca D'Alba, a sweet little place on the border, from where you can actually walk along the old steam railway line into Spain, which is a bit hairy but loads of fun.

You do need to have some sailing qualifications in order to charter the yacht, obviously, but the sailing isn't very arduous - good for boat handling practice, though and going through the massive lock is fun..

We had a great time, the weather was fab, the food was great, the people were nice, the wine was marvellous. Lovely!
