We spent a lovely month in the casita at Narnia over Christmas and New Year and loved it. The cottage has a good size bedroom off the cosy but decent sized living/dining room. There are heaters in the lounge and a small but very effective wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped, including a full oven which was great for cooking Christmas cake and Christmas dinner. The bathroom has a good strong shower and a heated towel rail which was a very welcome treat on frosty winter mornings.
The owners, Alan and Lynn, live in the house next door, but the trees around the casita make you feel as though you are splendidly isolated. They have four dogs who are large, but friendly and well behaved. We really enjoyed having them around, but if you have any concerns Alan and Lynn will keep them well away in their compound.
We also stayed for a few days in the straw bale house - Woodpecker Nook. Built predominantly from plastered straw bales, the house is a studio set up, with a huge four-poster bed as well as two bunks on one side and a galley kitchen on the other. Cooking is stove-top only and toilet and shower facilities are outside by the swimming pool.
It also has a wood burner and gets very cosy and warm in a very short period of time. It was a fun place to stay for a few days.
The casita is only an hour or so away from Malaga, up in the hills, so is easily accessible. It is also similarly close to Granada and the Al Hambra to the north east and various attractions such as the historic towns of Antequera with its ancient dolmans and cosy traditional town centre, as well as modern and well served new town; the El Torcal nature reserve and nearby Wolf park.
We would not hesitate to stay again at the casita and would highly recommend it to others.
