“A little gem in hidden Spain!”

In a small community just over the border from Catayluna into Aragon, is the beautiful area of Matarranya. Nestled in the hills over looking the National Park, just outside the village of Cretas (a typical picture-postcard village) is the Bed and Breakfast run by a Dutch couple, Hans and Loes.

Their English is impeccable and they were so accommodating we felt more like we were staying with old friends than paying guests. We advised them in advance that we would be late arriving from Reus airport and they said that wasn't a problem. We arrived to find home-made pizza waiting for us fresh from their pizza oven with salad from their own garden. The breakfast was equally good the next day, with Hans driving to the local village for fresh bread before we woke up and eggs from their own chickens.

The room was spotless and fresh and the bed was very comfortable. They even closed the curtains for us so that the room would stay cool as it was over 30 degrees outside.

All in all, we can't fault this little B&B and hope to return in October when we are in the area again.

Nuestra Posada is an ideal place to get the winter out of your bones. I spent a week there with my husband, from April 17 to 24, and every day it was sunny, even if sometimes breezy. Imagine sitting on a South facing terrace just outside your room and looking at a countryside of olive and almond groves framed by a most wonderful chain of blue mountains. If you walk along the stream of the gorge called Els Strets, you can actually do a full circuit watching birds, mountain goats, fish, butterflies and flowers, the path often lined with wild rosemary and thyme bushes. If you are a runner, dirt tracks and hills give you a fabulous training ground. Nearby there are three unspoilt medieval villages, Cretas, the nearest of them; further away, Horta del Ebro, where in 1909, Picasso devised some of his first cubist paintings, and Calaceite. This is an area rich in Iberian settlements and good museums which tell you all about it. Loes and Hans, the builders and owners of Nuestra Posada, have created their own paradise which includes a paddock where a Shetland pony, three sheep, two dogs and several hens enjoy life in great harmony. Soon there will be a swimming pool. The accommodation is elegant and comfortable, with endless supply of sun-heated water. Pizzas come bubbling out of Han’s famous oven. This is a luxury bed and breakfast with prices so ridiculously low that I dare not mention them.

My husband, our dog and I had a wonderful time there this March. Hans and Loes make us feel like home (or better), the food was very good and there was plenty of it, and the room is very beautiful, romantic and clean.
I really recommend it to anybody that wants to be in a perfect and relax place.

PS. you must see their dog playing with the pony! :-)

El meu marit, el nostre gos i jo varem passar un excel·lent cap de setmana aquí el març. En Hans i la Loes ens varen fer sentir com a casa (o millor), el menjar era boníssim i ni havia molt i l'habitació era molt bonica, romàntica i neta.
Recomano el lloc a qualsevol persona que busqui un lloc perfecte i relaxant.
PD. has de veure com juga el seu gos i el poni! ;-)

A great escape to the countryside in a wonderful homely setting with warm and friendly hosts. Loads of outdoor activities and swimming spots available. Very romantic if that's what you're looking for but don't expect thriving night life.

I had a great stay in this newly built rural retreat. Plenty to eat for breakfast with nice coffee. The bedroom has a comfortable bed with en-suite and doors that open to the patio with table and chairs for outside sitting with a stunning view. There is a very long track to drive up to this house but the views are simply wonderful. Hans and Loes are people who are easy to be comfortable with and will be concerned to be sure that you enjoy your stay with them. They use food that they have grown on their land and make such tasty meals . I thought this place was the best value that I have come across anywhere in Spain so far. I feel confident that others will think so too.

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same. All have a good view,

We stayed only 5 nights in September but it was a very nice experience. Hans and Loes make you feel at home, they have great pizzas and beautiful spacious rooms. Also worth noting, their dog is bigger than their horse! If you are looking for a quiet spot to explore the Spanish country side and mountains, this is the place. Very good value for money!
