We had an absolutely fabulous relaxing time at Kooljaman in one of their safari tents at the end of the season in October. It was very quiet and at times we had the beach to ourselves. The restaurant meals were sensational and it seems that they may have a new chef next year.
This was our first time in the safari tents, we usually stay in the beach side shelters and have been going there regularly for the past 9 years.
We look forward to getting back up there again soon.

We took the drive up the Cape from Broome, we knew the road was bad so we were prepared for that. We weren't prepared for the accommodation though! To say the accommodation was over priced for what it was is a gross understatement! We stayed in a cabin that was worse than the kids cubby at home. The cabin was poorly finished so as to allow an invasion of mozzies in before sundown and they stayed all night no matter the amount of bug spray used.

For the family of five there was but one room for sleeping, actually other than the bathroom there was only one room.

The room was self contained so we cooked for ourselves but there was no sink for washing dishes only a plastic tub!

We have travelled around Australia and anywhere else, for the cost, we could be assured of much better accommodation. To call this a resort is a bit of a stretch.

The beaches were great, the main buildings were well built with proper windows and doors and the cook your own dinner, whilst disorganised, was great fun.

I would recommend go for a visit but stay at some of the other private accommodation (i.e. Cygnet Bay). I cannot imagine what awards Kooljaman has won, doubtful they were for the accommodation.

We were so disappointed for you that you didn't enjoy your stay with us at our aboriginal owned wilderness camp! Many guest appreciate the rustic nature of our cabins and we do advise on booking that they are very basic. They do have the advantage of being close to a wonderful and picturesque swimming beach where you can swim all year round. We do have alternative styles of accommodation and between March and October a full service restaurant.

Amazing place to go, you feel so remote and at peace here. Very hot travelling there during 'wet' season however we hired our own plane through Broome Aviation which made the trip more enjoyable! I will be coming back next year and the year after that. Thanks to all the staff

Thank you for your comments - yes it is a little hot in the wet season but coming without the crowds can also add immensely to the experience! See you again in Kooljaman some time.

This is our 3rd visit to Kooljaman staying in the safari tents. Our first visit was about 15 years ago, and I don’t believe any of the furniture has been updated since then.

Tubular beds went out years ago, and the bedside lamp was gaffa-taped to the bedhead. The chest of drawers struggled to open or close and the fan was as cheap as you could buy anywhere. Although the insect screens more or less enclose the sleeping area, the timber slatted floor lets in any insects looking for a feed. Our tent had a very musty smell and I never really felt clean either in the bed, or anywhere within our tent.

The BBQ’s looked new enough, but out of the 3 tents in our group, not one BBQ had all working parts.

Kooljaman is an incredible location with spectacular beaches and coastline, but the Owners/Managers cannot rely on this alone.

Do up the safari tents – we’d love to come back!

Thank you - as new managers we enjoy feedback from repeat guests. Good news is that we are re-furbishing all the safari tents for 2014 with new furniture, beds and linen. I think the quote "Quality Fixtures & Fittings" related to our Deluxe Safari tent which was new in 2012 with King Bed and extra little touches. Next time you visit we hope you will approve our changes!

This location is magic! We drove ourselves & camped in a powered site overlooking the west beach. It was a perfect spot for watching the sunsets.
The staff were very helpful. We enjoyed takeaway chips & iced coffees from the restaurant. (Although the server did not know what gravy was! Must be an Australian thing).
The swimming beach, where we spent most of our time was gorgeous. White sand, clear blue water, couldn't ask for more.
Our only complaint was finding ourselves surrounded by 40 twelve year old football playing boys, who unfortunately were not adequately supervised by the adults present. That & the fact that there were only 2 toilets & 1 shower in the immediate proximity. As I am mobility impaired it would have been better if there were more conveniences. They also took over the camp kitchen & we were unable even to wash our own dishes as the sink was full of their dishes left there to soak.
Perhaps the management should rethink the placing of large groups.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. The Western Beach view camp sites are magic! We apologise for the inconvenience of having such a large group not behave appropriately and will take on board your comments. Hope to see you again soon.
