Staff are mainly young, keen and very attentive and helpful. Standard of service was excellent.
We stayed two nights in the Clockroom, a good sized, quirky, room with a very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom with a large bath. Meals are of a high standard; we had a 3 course menu in the restaurant and a 'lounge' meal in the bar, both excellent.

Enjoyed 3 nights at this lovely hotel. The meals were top class and the staff were all attentive and so helpful. We are booking to stay there again. Good walks in the area to walk off the delicious food.

Taken by my daughter for my birthday and was treated to an afternoon cream tea, and a treat it was too, made extra special with a glass of champagne. Nice surroundings and a really pleasant situation. Would do it again!

Booked through Secret Escapes. We had a lovely weekend. The hotel is beautiful, the staff lovely, welcoming and very attentive, the food in the restaurant was amazing! Our room 'Ribbons' was large and very comfortable with a good sized bathroom with shower and bath. The hotel is an old building so our room floor was a little uneven, but this I think added to the charm, it may however be not suitable for the unsteady on their feet (or those under the influence!) We had breakfast and morning papers delivered to our room. The most relaxing luxurious break we've had in a long time! Would thoroughly recommend a stay at Hintlesham.

Room Tip: Ribbons! Just a lovely room!

This is our third visit this year to this most attractive historic house hotel located in extensive grounds with an adjacent golf course. The house itself is delightful and principally Georgian with high ceilings, heavy curtains and lots of comfortable seating in the public rooms. Bedrooms are large and comfortable and the central heating throughout is very effective, an important consideration as winter approaches. Generous fires in large open fireplaces add to the feeling of unpretentious comfort. The staff too are notably helpful, cheerful and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is excellent, varied and well presented. Again, I have no doubt that personal preferences or diets would be catered for without question. If there is anything that might be improved in the room we had it was the bathroom where the shower pressure from the rather old equipment was less than one might have hoped for..
This is not the Ritz nor does it pretend to be. But it is one of the nicest places we know to relax and unwind in.

We booked this through Secret Escapes and had high expectations having been to the fabulous Thornbury Castle the previous month. We were checked in at a rather dreary reception by a receptionist who was functional but didn't have the enthusiasm and professionalism you would expect at such a venue.

Our standard double room (Canary) was fine and a decent size and the bed was quite comfortable. The shower was poor with relatively low water pressure. We put some clothes up on a high shelf only to find later it was thick with dust and our clothes were filthy.

I found all the various lounges to be rather drab in colour and furnishings apart from the library which was okay but nothing to write home about. It feels quite functional and not at all special. I particularly didn't like the training venue type flat ceilings full of bright spotlights which were cold and uninviting.

We had dinner one evening in the main restaurant which was very good and the service was good too: attentive and genuine. Breakfast was okay. The continental selection was just like any four star training venue (and I've been to many) and the cooked selection was okay but certainly not memorable.

Overall okay but not a place I'd want to return to.

This was our third stay at this delightful hotel staying this time in a superior room named Maypole. The room was large as have been all the other rooms on our previous stays. You cannot help but relax in the pleasant surrounding, dining on wonderful food served by very attentive staff led by Gordon.

My only criticism is that the menu offered on day 4 was the same as day 1, but I have to commend the restaurant staff in that they immediately addressed my concern and the chef was able to prepare us a wonderful alternative meal of Monkfish chowder, followed by pheasant breast with Tonka Bean Brulee for dessert. You cannot get better service than that.

Room Tip: Always telephone the hotel and they will give you the best rates.
