I cannot improve upon the recent positive comments that other reviewers have already left, other than to say that they have all probably understated just how good this place is.

It is a pity that the ratings only go up to 5 as the service that the staff provide deserve at least a 9.

The waiters in the restaurant at dinner were professional, courteous, humorous and attentive. They were the best I have experienced in years. Well done!

The negatives? Well, the herb garden could do with a bit of a tidy up, but that's about it.

Go and enjoy!

Room Tip: Blossom is at the top of the main house and was very peaceful. Small but very well appointed.

Our guests (32) travelled from many counties for our celebratory Golden wedding lunch. We were fortunate that the sun was shining which showed the hall at its best although it must look magical when covered in snow! The event was held in the Parlour, the size of which was just right giving a cosy atmosphere. The food and service were excellent and we could not fault any aspect. We chose from three first courses, three main courses and three puddings which was appreciated as people's likes/dislikes vary considerably. Some guests stayed overnight and found everything satisfactory. The verdict: a superb memorable afternoon.

A country house hotel, full of charm and character, nicely decorated and furnished in a style in keeping with the hotel. On this occasion we had a superior room, room 12 "Heart of Oak" on the second floor. A large, spacious room with a wealth of exposed beams, all very clean and well maintained. The beams naturally divided the open plan room into a sleeping area with carved wood four poster bed and a lounge area furnished with easy chairs, small table, writing desk and chair as well as TV and chest of drawers. The bathroom was also of an excellent standard, with all the usual facilities including a separate shower and bath, again all nicely decorated and presented.

We ate in the restaurant on the first evening from the table d'hote menu which was first class. Good quality food, nicely cooked and well presented, served by efficient, professional staff. Breakfast was also to the same high standard, with self service starter buffet followed by cooked to order hot dishes, again excellent quality food, nicely cooked and well presented.

The hotel is set in its own extensive grounds, with an adjoining associated golf course well away from the A1071 Ipswich - Sudbury main road - a haven of peace and quiet in superb surroundings with excellent staff.

Superb hotel. Fantastic room in the stable block. Huge comfortable bed, large bathroom with deep bath and a shower that's so powerful if it wasn't for the wall I'm sure it would blast you out to the corridor! Masses of instant hot water. We were in "Zoffany" which has a view over the rose garden to one side and the car driveway/parking on the other. Very creaky floorboards in toilet. Didn't bother us but was conscious of the people downstairs who must have wondered what was going on!
Had two absolutely fabulous table d'hote meals in the restaurant, plus three full english breakfasts. The food is to die for and the service from the staff was impeccable.
Great hotel in a lovely area of Suffolk with much to see in the area. Too short a time to see much, so will be returning.

Room Tip: Didn't see other rooms but another couple commented that our "superior" room sounded m...

This is a hotel in the traditional style. The service is excellent and very attentive. The room was well appointed and comfortable with an enormous bed! The bathroom was superb with the best traditional shower I have used. The bath was Olympic in length and depth. The breakfast was well cooked and coped with my wife's wheat allergy well.
The restaurant tried hard and mainly succeeded but I preferred the menu served in the bar and lounge area. I wish that they would have a dedicated bar person as it was not staffed for long periods. Overall we had a great weekend and will return with out a doubt

Room Tip: We had superior room

We had a lovely 3 night stay at the hotel a few weeks ago. The hotel was an impressive building set in lovely grounds yet had a very homely feel. Our room (Ribbons) was in the main house, it was perfect and had everything we needed, the bathroom was large with a big walk in shower and huge bath. We ate in the restaurant on two nights and found the choice and service very good. The breakfasts were perfectly cooked and well presented. The dining room was impressive being beautifully styled and opulent.

The overall ambiance of the hotel was peaceful and relaxed and its location was ideal for seeing the area. We managed to fit in a number of National Trust visits including Ickworth House and Flatford Mill which was just short drive away from the hotel was well worth a visit.

Our only regret is that we were out and about so much we spent very little time in our lovely room. We have recommended the hotel to our friends and they have now booked and I am sure they won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ribbons overlooked the front of the hotel, perfect for nosey guests like myself!! The wifi though w...

For two years I have wanted to go to Hintlesham Hall, and I wasn't disappointed. The hotel is refined. My chicken dinner delicious, my husband said his steak was tough, but it looked good and was served well, and to be fair my husband has Parkinson's, so unless food is easy to cut, it is always a problem. The hotel is beautifully furnished, our room was huge,(it is the first time I have walked up hill to bed, there is not an even floor in the place. As I was told it was origannally Elizabethan I am not surprised, the frontage is a beautiful Pink Georgian elegant Manor. The gardens are beautifully kept, and they have a huge apple crop in the orchard. Nearby Hadleigh was a real find, a lovely village, with independent shops( anti Tesco) Partridges (a real hardware shop is a gem) A lovely two day break
