our welcome was great, the rooms were clean and smoke free. situated right in heart of this small town. it was a pleasant experience. the owners were friendly and warm and helped us a great deal for figuring out places to visit which were off the map. over me and my friends enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place.

We stopped by for a quick lunch. I was kept
Waiting at the bar for 20 minutes before being even acknowledged by the 2 bar staff who were trying to sort out an accommodation query. No-one else was sing served. When they came to serve me a rushed meal order was taken at 2pm as the kitchen was about to close despite the sign outside saying food all day. The bar staff didn't then come back to take the drinks order as requested, she went back to talk to her colleague. Terrible service.

We visited this place during our roadtrip through England in May 2012.

Well reading older reviews we didn't expect much. We had the room right above the bar, which wasn't disturbing at all as all we could hear was the faint noise from downstairs, not too loud so you could sleep with that.

The room was not very clean. Coffee mugs were proper dirty, not poorly washed but someone drank from them and they were left like that on the table. General stickyness of furniture+horrible carpet. But the bed was clean and comfy.

Breakfast was surprisingly great. Corn flakes, yogurt, fresh fruits and general egg dishes on order -can't fault anything with it and the waitresses were really nice.

It could have been worse. We paid Ł50, when checking in they tried to charge us Ł70 and we needed to show our booking.com confirmation to prove we only have to pay Ł50.

We were made very welcome and had three rooms. They were perfectly clean and well looked after on a daily basis. Some renovation would be an idea but we were warm. comfortable and had everything we needed, tea, coffee, TV, hairdryer, shower, toiletries, loo, perfect for our stay. No problem staying again and hope to do so. No it's not quiet, it's on a busy market square and has a thriving bar so there will be some noise, there are rooms to the back of the hotel which are ideal if you want peace and quiet. Walk further on from the hotel along the lane and straight out onto lovely public footpaths, go towards the sea and you have the magnificent coast.

During a recent trip around southern England I booked my accommodation through the Inns of Britain system, which touts itself as booking accommodation in old English pubs. Well this is certainly an old English pub and it is in a wonderfully charming little village with a fantastically scenic but long - about 2 km each way) walk to the nearby lighthouse. It's the sort of place that I was looking for in an Inns of Britain trip.

Unfortunately my accommodation was in a dismal, poorly maintained, poorly bult and dreadfully designed add-on building out the back of the pub. The room was small with limited head height. I could only stand up straight on one side of the room due to the slope of the ceiling. The room was only accessible through the pub, out the back door through the damp, unpleasant courtyard area between the beer kegs and other detritus of a rarely used working area, and up a ricketty set of stairs.

I don't know what the accommodation inside the pub was like, from what other reviewers have said it sounds fine. But the "annexe" out the back was dreadful. I ate dinner in the pub and it was a typical pub meal - in fact quite good and very genial staff and patrons. The pub itself seemed fairly nice. But if you are going to book here, make sure it's in the pub itself, because you will be disappointed with the annexe out the back.

Room Tip: Do not stay in the annexe out the back.

Letting eveyone know how much we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We found the owners and staff extremely friendly and helpful. The local residents and especially the darts team made us feel accepted and not just tourists.
The food was excellent and reasonably priced and the staff were very flexible if you needed to make any changes the the set meals.
We would definately stay here again.

I cant say a bad word about this Hotel, The food was lovely, the staff were very polite and welcoming and the room was just what we needed for the weekend. Beautiful area and perfect for a couple wanting a weekend break. Bar staff (Tracey) and the locals shared a wealth of knowledge about the area and made our stay one we will never forget. Will definatly be returning.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 1 (out building)
