Most people use Caballococha as a place to rest overnight while traveling between other cities along the Amazon River (I stayed here when going between Leticia Colombia and Iquitos Peru). Since you will probably arrive here on a boat, to get to this hotel, you don't need to take a moto-taxi. Just walk up the boat ramp to the main square area. Turn right on the first street you come to and it's on that street. Hostal Gamboa is actually housed in two buildings across the street from each other.... just look up and you'll see a banner hanging across the street between the two buildings. In my opinion, the rooms were better in the building on the left side. On the right side, there were some roosters that are going to be crowing in the morning. When the owner was showing me rooms, he told me the price was 40 soles per night with air conditioning. However, after seeing a couple of rooms, he dropped the price to 30 soles per night without my even asking for a discount. I stayed in room number 5 and it was a good room, away from any noise that might happen in the lobby. The rooms are pretty basic; they could use a good paint job. The mattress was new and so comfortable! I wish I had this mattress at home! There was a 14" TV with limited cable channels; no Sony, Warner, CNN, etc. They don't have hot water, but the water was bearable. I took a shower at night because in the morning the water is too cold for me. I recommend air conditioning in this town because it is so humid. Once you walk up the boat ramp to the main square, there are plenty of hotels around and near the square, so if you don't like this one, there are plenty more. There was one in particular that had very nice rooms, but with no air conditioning, next to the little travel agency called ContactUs at Calle Ayacucho 206. The rooms were only 25 soles on the second floor. To find this travel agency, and the little hotel, walk up the boat ramp, and instead of turning right to go to Hostal Gamboa, just walk straight and they both face the main square. There's also a little internet place in that block that's open until midnight.
