Well what a lovely and happy return since our last visit 3 years ago. Jennie, Alex, his wife Julie and all their staff were so welcoming just like old friends.
Our best friends were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and we invited them to join us for a 2 night break so we were lucky to get the last 2 rooms as they were nearly full with a family group who were up for a local wedding. Our rooms were next door to each other and had a private courtyard area which was very quiet. Jennie had even bought some flowers and chocolates for our friends for their room. They were both spacious and warm which was nice as the weather wasn't great that weekend. The food was fantastic both evenings. Our friends are both coeliacs and couldn't believe the selection of food they had to choose from. My partner was over the moon to see the special breads and chocolate tarts were still on the menu. Our breakfasts were delicious and we loved the coeliac sausages from the local butcher who we stopped at on the way home. I did get a bit of fishing in on the rear lake but it got too wet so we went to Norwich Castle Museum for the afternoon which is well worth a visit.
As the family group were out in the evenings the restaurant was nice and quiet however on the Saturday there was a couple who were quite abusive and rude to the staff and made us all feel very uncomfortable and one of the waitresses was clearly very upset once they had gone.
We noticed that they have written a review which I can only say ''use your own judgement and look at their other reviews"!.
We were shown the new accommodation which is amazing and we will be booking to stay there next time as it over looks the lake with incredible views.
We love coming to Norfolk but even more so to Greenbanks!
Thank you once again to everyone.

Stayed here for the working week to tour the area. Welcoming, charming, attentive and helpful staff, - all of them.
Room (No. 3) was spacious and bright with ample storage space and flat surfaces.New large bathroom. Connections for Ipads to the TV and bedside radio/alarm. Free Wifi available in the reception area
Best cooked breakfast I have had in a long time and the evening meals were superb with an ample choice of food and wines.

Had a meal here a few months ago - very good. Went tonight and it could have been a different place. Once the waitress's had served the main course they didn't come near the table, in fact we couldn't see anyone. My steak was overcooked and I wanted to send it back - in the end I eat it as I could have waited all night. What a shame - It might explain why there was only one other table of four on a Saturday night. Its also worth noting that if you want to pay by credit card they charge you £5.00 extra. Shades of Ryanair?!!

'Country hotel' made me expect something grander: this is quite a small roadside historic- farmhhouse style place, though there are ground floor additions around the back that are wheelchair friendly and a barn with heated indoor pool.

The surrounding countryside is very attractive (though they are right on a road) and they have a pretty garden with a small lake, and an indoor swimming pool, all of which are accessible to wheel chair users.

The welcome is very friendly - it has a sort of individual 'bed and breakfast' feel to the whole place. It seemed full and popular, there is a restaurant and a small bar, definitly not a chain hotel experience, the pleasant owner came to chat over breakfast.

I had a room in the house, there was a bit of noise from the road and from neighbouring room, but a lovely view. The room and bed were very comfortable and the big bathroom (under the eaves) had a large bath and was sparkling clean. They promote local produce and recycling etc, which I applaud - the only drawback is the dull eco- friendly lighting in the room and bedside lights that were too dim to read by comfortably.

Breakfast was good, cooked breakfast was generous and made to order freshly, excellent coffee.

I recomend this hotel to those who like a friendly comfortable stay with a family atmostphere.

Room Tip: one not facing the road?

I have at last found a local pool that is very warm, a sauna and jaccuzzi. The pool is first class for people with mobility problems with all types of aids available. It is limited to only 6 people at a time so ideal. Can not promote it enough.
