“like a mini holiday whilst working!”
Reviewed June 19, 2009

we picked this hotel because it seemed an amazing deal - £99 b&b for two of us and full use of the spa facilities! We had a lovely relaxing time in the excellent spa, then ate in the bar lounge and had delicious supper and wine, served with promptness and panache. Our room was comfortable if a little small (the twin beds were quite close and we are only colleagues!) and very clean. Very comfy mattresses indeed. All in all, we had a really lovely time and it was very good value for money.

Lovely old building set in beautiful grounds. Members of staff very friendly and informal. My room was spacious with a great view over the lawn. Dinner in the restaurant was a pleasant surprise: service was friendly and the menu varied. The food was impeccably cooked andpresented.

Stayed at this place for a wedding, i'll start with the positive points!
The hotel is situated in very pretty private grounds. The room we stayed in was in the older part of the hotel. It was quite small but clean and comfortable though had nothing to make it stand out from any other hotel i've stayed in.
After a long journey to get there i had a shower and went down to the Bar to meet friends for a drink - first bad sign - it took me 20 minutes to get served even though their were three bar staff and only about 20 customers !
They had a very limited selection of beers and i settled on a real ale which turned out to be quite nice. After a while i ordered another one only to be told the barrel had run out.
I said i would wait for a new barrel and was told it would take 3 days!! as they had to let it settle!! the two friends i was drinking with were Australian and they thought this was great fun !
Later my aussie friends ordered some food from the bar - bangers and mash - the food arrived and i was embarrassed as an englishman at the tiny quantities of food served to these guys. They left after they had eaten to go into town for a meal.
Tried to check my email, as i was told wifi was available - no luck - after enquiring at the desk i was told my room hadnt been wired for internet as the walls were too thick !
Next day was at a wedding dinner - again food was ok but tiny portions and a pretentious waiter who tried to open my napkin and stretch it over my lap - as i had not done it fast enough myself for his liking! From the look i gave him he backed off knowing he was about to get a punch in the face :)
Again after the reception the bar ran out of beer.
For a 4 star hotel was very average, ive stayed in better motorway lodges and also very overpriced

Once I spotted this on the internet , I knew it was the perfect location for a wekend break away from our usual surroundings without having to jet off. It met all my expecttions and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay there. There is a lot to keep one occupied around the hotel from the excellent views, the lakeside bar and spa facilities withoiut having to go into nearby Shrewsbury which had a lot to offer too.

I have stayed at the Albrighton quite a few times but have neer yet had a room in the main building so can't comment on it. I have always been put in the annex which offers good sized rooms with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are pretty standard but always clean with plenty of hot water.
The food has always been up to what I would consider to be a reasonable to good standard with a fair selection on the menu.
I have been disappointed by the billing system twice now and found lunches on my bill which were not taken as I have been away from the hotel during the day, but apart from that, it is amngst the best in the area for the business traveller.

We have just returned from a weekend at the Albrighton Hall hotel it was great. The setting is fantastic, our room was lovely almost a suite. The staff where really nice, helpful and polite. The breakfast was really nice and nothing was too much trouble for the satff in the breakfast room. It' is about one and a half miles from the towm but we where aware of that before we booked.

We will deffinately be going again.

Our hotel room was in the School Masters House. We were not EVEN in the hotel. I opened the door and I was so disappointed. The ceiling had a very noticeable crack all the way across it. The skirting boards and walls (on the right-hand side as you walk into the room), had scratch marks on them (which looked tatty/worn and dirty), the skirting boards and wall should be re-decorated ASAP. The carpet was not laid flat and there were raised lump/bumps in the carpet. The floor was creaky and uneven. We had a view of the car park (people could see us) and had to close the curtains all to often making the room very dark because the lighting was so poor, we had to turn on all the lights/lamps to make the room bright. The bath tub side panel was dirty and had stains on it. The electric heater in our room did not work. A gentleman took it away and replaced. The remote control did not work and was held together by sticky tape and a piece of cardboard on the top that said fragile with care!!! I called up reception straight away about the remote. A gentleman came to put in new batteries. The remote still did not work, even with new batteries. He took the remote away and we never heard anything until when we were checking out. The lady on reception told us they could not find a remote to match the TV we had in our room. They could not replace our remote control but they never even offered us another room. They didn’t even bother to tell us about the situation until we were checking out, why bother to tell us when we are leaving? We put our clothes in the wardrobe and then the wardrobe door would not slide back and forth properly. We informed reception and they told us someone would have a look on Saturday. Our wardrobe was never fixed and we never received any feed back about the issue. I wrote a letter of complaint and never received a respose/apology.
