“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

We stayed for two nights in December in room 71 in the new wing . This is a huge room, nicely decorated and in a quiet part of the hotel, despite a christmas party going on. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. We didn't use the spa so can't comment on that, neither did we eat in the restaurant, but we did have room service which was fine. A very pleasant stay.

Fantastic hotel with decent rooms. Staff extremely friendly and helpful always cheerful. Food exceptional and little things like oranges and sweets and nuts left around the hotel. Also Champagne reception and wine on the table for our Christmas dinner. We shall certainly be visiting again as it is a 4star hotel with a six star service. Wonderful stay.

We stayed for one night to celebrate my husband's birthday on a 'wine and dine' package. We had a lovely spacious room overlooking the lake which was adequately warm and not like a sauna! The leisure centre was a little tired but we were able to have a swim and enjoy the steam room, sauna and ice room. The five course dinner was delicious and well presented complete with two complimentary glasses of wine. A previous review commented on the portions - if you want to stuff yourself go to MacDonalds! The drinks in the bar were on a par with most hotels and the staff were delightful. Breakfast was self service with plenty of choice. We would recommend this hotel to others and will return.

We stayed there to have a small Christmas gathering of my brother and sister and partners which we do every year. We chose Albrighton Hall this year as it was fairly central to our various home locations. We stayed just 1 night on Wednesday 12th December 2012.

All 3 rooms that we occupied were very good. We used the Spa and that was fine. We had drinks in the bar which was fine whilst pretty expensive (lager at £4.60 per pint for instance - I have never paid over £4 for that lager before and I have stayed extensively in hotels).

The following morning, our breakfast was good with a good selection and good value at the £10 each we were charged.

However, we ate dinner in the Oak Room. The food was pretty disappointing. The presentation of the food appeared to be much more important to the chef and kitchen staff than the providing of a good well cooked and satisfying dinner. We had various main dishes all of which looked good on the plate but all of which were very 'portion controlled' for instance with very little vegetables or potato even when that was clearly itemised on the menu. Portions were very small, were inadequate and represented very poor value. We ordered several side dishes such as winter veg and mash. These also were 'well presented' but were vey disappointing indeed!

We did not mind spending money and the one night with 3 rooms, dinner, drinks and breakfast came to about £500 in total - the dinner being around £300+

We did expect a 'good meal' for the money we spent but we were let down.

The rest of our stay was good.

THE HOTEL NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE MENU AND THE PRESENTATION AND ADEQUACY OF MEALS. IT COSTS NO MORE TO GIVE SOMEONE A WELL COOKED AND SUSTAINING MEAL THAN A 'FANCY' LOOKING PLATE, THAT HAS NO REAL SUBSTANCE.

GREAT SHAME! Otherwise a nice hotel.

GROSSMAN FAMILY

Room Tip: Be careful eating in the restaurant - it can be disappointing!

Eight of us decided to visit Shrewsbury and stayed at Albrighton Hall Hotel. The hotel was excellent from the wonderful rooms we were allocated to the reception areas and the Spa Centre. What made the stay even more enjoyable was the staff.
The waiter in the bar on Friday afternoon, very helpful and entertaining.
Friday night we ate in the restaurant, there was a small problem with some lamb, which the staff couldn't have handled any better (thank you)., first rate. Breakfast was very good.
The high standard continued with the front office staff at reception, everything was done with a big smile which made you feel very welcome. Highly recommended,
One small point we thought the wine prices in the restaurant were high, we didn't buy any but if there had been the welcome addition of a £15.00 house wine we would have bought four.
