El Lagar is one of a group of villas clustered about 300 yards up a dirt track beyond a restaurant run by the owners of the villas.
The setting is dramatic and scenically spectacular. The property has a small but clean and well appointed pool in front of the main building. On sunny days there is nothing much better than relaxing in the grounds of the villa.
The surrounding landscape is truly remarkable limestone country but quite a long way from the nearest town - Alora. Most provisions can be found there but it is an exacting journey on roads that, in places, are in urgent need of repair.
The accommodation is decent enough but, at the end of the season, seemed a bit 'tired'. A winter spruce up will be all to the good. Nevertheless it was comfortable and spacious.
We would have benefitted from a welcome pack.
The restaurant down the hill provides a range of basic food and drink.
