“Good but room for improvement”
Reviewed July 30, 2011

This is quite a modern hotel and the room we had was large and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaraunt serves fairly standard Italian food but was good overall.

So fas so good but there are a couple of cons.

The hotel is a bit out of the way down fairly narrow roads which means anytime you want to go somewhere it is a bit of a drag to get to a main road.

Breakfast was a bit basic. A choice of only two cereals (cornflakes or Weetabix) and limited options for cooked breakfasts (eg no scrambled eggs, tomatoes of mushrooms were served on the limited buffet).

Reception is not open 24 hours and wasn't open until 8.30 in the morning.

Overall good value for money for a short break in the area but breakfast could be better..

I had booked for a 1 night stay on the 01/07, but due to my business trip I had to have the flexibility of staying a 2nd night on the 02/07. Even though the hotel was fully booked for a wedding the management couldn't have been more flexible and accomodating. I had a great meal that evening in the bar which was restaurant quality food. the staff in the bar were really helpful and a credit to the hotel. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and will continue to do so.

I certainly "landed on my feet" when I booked a room here. The room was wonderful; spotlessly clean, extremely well appointed and contemporary without being minimalist. The furnishings and furniture were of very good quality and the bed very comfortable. (I noticed a previous reviewer had said it was too hard for "us oldies" - however, I'm retired and I found it extremely comfortable)

The bathroom was excellent - the choice of a conventional or monsoon shower head was lovely - and it was so nice to have an opening window in the ensuite.

Someone has given a great deal of thought - and invested a lot of money - to make sure that everything is so very right. It might seem a little thing for a man but I think women will appreciate that the hairdryer is sited by a good sized and well-lit mirror, with a chair. There is a proper wardrobe, rather than simply a hanging rack, and a full size kettle that boils very quickly. Little things, I know, but some of us notice them and are very grateful and, together, they give an outstanding experience.

The view from my room was beautiful and the Inn is in a very quiet location but within easy distance of Wells, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury and Street, where you will find Clarks Shopping Village.

I agree with a previous reviewer that the first impression from the car park may lead you to wonder what sort of place it will be but don't be put off. The impression just gets better and better! The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient and the breakfast is very good. Sadly, the Italian Restaurant wasn't open the night I stayed but I know I shall find an excuse to stay there again, this time with my husband, so I look forward to enjoying a meal there then. However, there were excellent bar snacks and I don't think I've ever had as much lovely cold roast beef in a salad! Although I was a lone woman, I didn't feel at all uncomfortable in the bar eating my meal which, togther with the wine, was very reasonably priced.

This is probably the best B&B in a very large area and one of the most reasonable - it was actually cheaper than "student accommodation" I'd recently been given at a conference venue in Warwickshire! Please do stay there - it really does deserve to be discovered.

Room Tip: Take time to enjoy the wonderful views

the inn was great ,the food really nice and the bar fantastic. The position of the inn was perfect for sight-seeing,the only critisism was the door banged shut so you heard everyone going in and out of their rooms and the bed was too hard for us oldies. The staff were very nice and helpful.
